DD is at Grandma and Grandpa's and I feel guilty
So my mom came over today and saw how it had been a long day and so she offered to take DD back to her house so DH and I could have peaceful dinner and a few hours to relax.
Now I feel horribly guilty that I willingly let her go. I totally trust my parents but I just feel like a bad mommy because she is not even 6 weeks old.
I also feel guilty because it feels good to not have to worry about when she will wake and want to be fed.

Re: DD is at Grandma and Grandpa's and I feel guilty
My DD is 7 weeks old and has been at my moms more than a few times. My mom has taken her for the same reason or at least to give me time to nap during the day.
Heck, on Sunday she watched Paige overnight so my DH and I can go to Atlantic City. (it was our annivesary)
Are you sure we are not the same people? Because I always felt guilty also, but when she wasnt here I was totally glad that I got some time to myself.

Juliet, yet another post I probably wrote when Ava was that age! I felt like I was always letting my parents take her, but you really need a break, and you are extremely lucky to have parents willing to do that. The way my parents always put it is that by helping me with the baby, they are taking care of me, and that someday when Ava has babies, I will do the same for her just as my grandparents had done for them. They used to drop me and my sister off when I was a baby at my grandparents and drive to Washington DC, where they knew they couldn't just hop in the car if they felt guilty, and sleep for two days straight It's totally normal that you feel relieved. Geez, JT and I STILL pawn Ava off on my parents every now and then! Enjoy it, and get rest and sleep and take comfort in know that you are not alone. All of us mommies need a break. They certainly don't say IT TAKES A VILLAGE for nothing. It's true, my dear.

Dont you dare feel guilty !
You deserve the quiet time to unwind a little, relax, take a bubble bath, enjoy your alone time with hubby, and you will be all refreshed and ready to take on another day with your precious girl.

Re: DD is at Grandma and Grandpa's and I feel guilty
I can make you feel better. I left Molly home with DH for a weekend when she was 6 weeks old so I could go to my company's Holiday party in Dallas. I was excited to go because I needed the break so bad, but had a miserable time since I was so anxious the whole time. Then, I come home and the little cold she had when I left (I was only there for a night.) took a turn for the worst and we spent the next three days in the hospital with bronchiolotis. Talk about feeling overwhelming guilt!
You need the break and it was just a few hours for dinner. You have to have that time to refresh yourself, plus, a child in the hands of loving and willing grandparents is as happy as can be!

I AGREE!!!!!!!
My MIL would come to my house in the beginning and literally kick me out of the house to have time for "me". You NEED that...take advantage of it

Don't feel guilty at all!!! I spent the weekend out at my parent's summer house last yr without DH and I brought Andrew with me. He was 3 weeks old.
My mom did everything. She even woke up with him so I could sleep.
Don't feel guilty. Grandmas love doing this stuff

Re: DD is at Grandma and Grandpa's and I feel guilty
My mother took DS overnight when he was 7 weeks old!!! DS was colicky and also was waking every 2-3 hours to eat....so my mother saw how exhausted I was and "told" me that she was taking DS and to get some rest..
and that was exactly what I did...

Re: DD is at Grandma and Grandpa's and I feel guilty
Thanks for the reassurance. We picked her up and she was sleeping and slept until 3AM I was actually worried that she had gone so long without eating, but I we tried to wake her and she went back to sleep. Now that I see how much fun my parents had reliving their youth (knowing in their heads they will give her back) I think DH and I may go on a real date sometime soon.
