DDI...YAP Program in Medford...
Any feed back on that place? Pros/cons.

Our good friend's fiance is a teacher there...
DS goes to their Starting Early program in Ronkonkoma, so I don't know particulars about it, but I have spoken with his former classmates mothers, who children went there, and they raved about it.

I used to work at the YAP program in Ronkonkoma and I feel it is the best program for children with Autism. I am not just saying that because I worked there...lol. All of my students made tremendous progress while attending the program and almost all of them went on to inclusion kindergarten classrooms!

My thing is that Christopher has many Sensory Issues, and I heard he will NOT get OT, he will just get a consult??

My daughter has a ton of sensory issues too and will be starting a program this summer.
I didn't go look at DDI as her therapists said it was to restrictive (?) for her personality but they have many other students that go there and love it.
She is going to Alternatives in E. Setauket and I love that place. A great OT/PT gym, a nice music room and a computer room.

You are right...the children do not recieve OT, PT or Speech. The teacher and TA's preform all of these duties. Everyone of those things are put into their IEP's, if need be, and worked on by the staff. We never had a consultant come but maybe things have changed.
