Dear Mr. roach and your immediate family
The last couple of months in my apartment were pure bliss until one of you came along.
My apartment is spotless, because I am a neat freak and never have food out. EVerything is in sealed containers or ziploc bags. Garbage is taken out everyday so tell me why do you come visit my home when I have absolutely nothing out to offer you
I assume its because the weather is warmer and you have decided to come explore, or one of my neighbors iinfested and you're no longer happy in their apt. The people on my floor appear clean but who knows.
I have put out combat and poured boric acid in corners and in front of my door under the welcome mat. There is already one of those weather strip things on bottom of my front door even though from inside I can tell there is space but still.
It could also be because I didnt have the stopper in my bathtub for the last month since so much of my hair clogged the drain super put one of those covers with mini holes for water to go down and no hair get jammed, but now stopper is back And if its you neighbor who's kitchen is other side of my bathroom (where I have seen you buggies lately) we going to have to have a talk about cleanliness
Signed,
Not so happy and very skeeved tenant who would love to be able to pee without "examining my bathroom first"
Anyone have any other suggestions?

Re: Dear Mr. roach and your immediate family
can you get those roach bombs from the hardware store? When we lived in Queens in a 2 family house, when the people below us moved in all of the sudden we had roaches We put those bombs in EVERY room in our house (and i think 2 in the kitchen), closed all the windows and left for the day- then came back at night and DH held his breath and ran in to open windows- then we left again for a few hours to let the place air out... it did the trick

Re: Dear Mr. roach and your immediate family
If you ever get an exterminator, you can ask them about a special powder they use that they can shoot into the walls.
They have a very potent powder that they can shoot into the walls. They can drill very tiny holes (maybe 1/8 inch) in different spots in your walls near the floor, then shoot this powder in there. It's very effective in killing roaches because it's potent. Once the powder gets on the roaches, they die. If a roach that has the powder on it and then touches other roaches they die too.
You can't use this powder in the living space of the house, but since many roaches live inside the walls its good stuff to use. They would typically seal the tiny holes in the walls with spackle afterwards to close them up.

thing is thatd be great for me, but if other tenants arent doing the same it wont help.
I havent seen many, but the random ones i saw cant just be strays. They are coming from somewhere and im just worried if one lays eggs thats it I'm screwed.

You will never find a situation where all the tenants will be cooperative. The only thing you can do is to barricade your own unit.
I found the power to be extremely helpful, even if my other tenants had issues.
If you are in a building you should have free exterminator service. I would ask for this and ask for the powder. It works much better than spraying in the living space.

they do provide an exterminator I was just worried he'd make it worse if he just "sprays" is that a separate charge if I ask for the powder? I wonder wy they just dont do this everywhere?

Becuase many people are afraid of chemicals because they have kids or pets.
Some people also just don't care. They don't care about living a dirty life.
He isn't going to make it worse if he sprays or uses powder. The only way he can theoretically make it worse is if he baits because the the bait can temporarially attract more roaches (since they will want to eat the bait). But the bait is supposed to be effective too since it's the only way that can wipe out the colony.
But stuff like spray and powder definitely won't make it worse since it doesn't attract roaches. It just kills them.
Your exterminating service should be free and I would ask for the powder. They may be like "huh?". You can always pay for your own exterminator too that can bring powder if it gets bad and you see a lot of roaches.

Re: Dear Mr. roach and your immediate family
thank you
I have combat out. Fresh ones that I put out about 3 weeks ago I think, maybe a month ago. Could this be why I have seen some? The bait is attracting them but will then in turn kill them?

Re: Dear Mr. roach and your immediate family
Possibly. But the combat bait isn't nearly as good as the stuff the exterminators use.

Re: Dear Mr. roach and your immediate family
bump. more than 24 hours went by and not a one and this was after i used caulk on any crack I saw and put boric acid out ( can I tell you how yucky that powder is ) then this morning I saw another one. This time in my kitchen. Thats it the buggies have crossed the line. I dont get where theyre coming from
Talked to the super this morning, exterminator is due to come next week. Til then I'm hoping for the best. He offered to do the bomb option tomorrow, but after hearing about what its good for and googling it I dont think thats good option.

Have you checked the sink? WHen I lived in a building, I didn't see a roach until my downstairs neighbors moved out and the new people gutted the kitchen...all the buggers ran upstairs to us...yuck blech! It was seriously night and day. look for any openings they could come in that way.

this is exactly what I think happened. I sealed off any openings I think it could be coming from. the person below me moved recently abnd they must have done renovations. when you say sink where d you mean? how did you get rid of them?
