Re: Deathly Hallows - only look if you have FINISHED the book
I just finished reading it and I LOVED it. She did a great job with it. I had predicted a lot of things in it before I even read it. I knew after book 6 that Harry was the final Horcrux and that a part of him (the part that V. controls) was going to have to die. I knew Snape was going to be good and that he was going to die. But I was still very happy with the book.
The only thing that I did not like was that she didn't say in the book what Harry became as an adult. I always thought that he would become the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. I know he's not because he's not going to Hogwarts, but what is he doing? I don't want her to tell me in an interview-put another paragraph in the damn book and tell me what he became!! That kind of frustrated me.
As far as it jumping 19 years to me means that she can at some point continue the story if she wants. We can learn about life after Voldermort. I don't think she'll continue the story for Harry's kids. Harry, Ron and Hermonie are the story and she left us hanging for more about their lives.
All in all I was very happy with it. Sad to see it over but I think she is brilliant and I hope that she comes up with another series.

Jenn, I agree with everything you said. Harrys life just seems incomplete almost as if he accomplished everything at 17 and nothing more to was become of him (magically speaking)

ITA...I loved that she jumped ahead, but I would have loved to know what they were doing with themselves. and I was glad that Snape ended up being good in the end!
she did a great job with these books!

For those of you who wanted to know what Harry and everyone became:
JK Rowling Article
Thought that was cool.
ETA: My favorite part of the whole book was Molly Weasley taking out Bellatrix!!

Re: Deathly Hallows - only look if you have FINISHED the book
This book really was amazing.
Unfortunately for me, I only read 6 and 7. Have seen all the movies, but kind of wish I had been reading the actual books the entire way through.
I too was crying so much throughout the book- especially the last few chapters.
I hope to see J.K. Rowling create another series or future books (although I am sure with her Harry Potter successes, she very well may not.)
I am so sad that there is "no more" Harry Potter. I will be even sadder when the movies are all through coming out too.
I think I may back track to read the books I hadn't to fill me in on all of the great details left out of the movies.
ETA: I do not think she could have ended the book more perfectly, although I agree that she should have included what they had all done with themselves (unless of course there is more on the way from her- in that event, I can wait.) I think it was cheesey of her to release info after the fact in an interview- she should have just included it in the book- I really don't get why she went this route . . .

JK Rowling is looking into publishing an encyclopedia/dictionary on the book to explain all the terms used in the book, and she could explain the connection between each character, etc. This may be one of the reasons she didn't release her original epilogue that was longer than what was published.
