Decisions, decisions, decisions- ugh! WWYD??

OK ladies I need your help..
WWYD?
I'm sorry I feel like I'm bothing you guys with all these questions, but I have to ask.

I am really having a difficult time deciding what would be best for us right now
I spoke to the Dr. who thinks we should give it one last IVF try with my eggs and if that doesn't work, then go to DE.

The problem is I don't know if I can go through IVF # 3-emotionally.
There are way too may what ifs.
But on the other hand I don't just want to give up either.

We were also thinking of trying on our own, but that has just lead to one M/C after another- I don't know if I could handle a 5th miscarriage either. Not that I'm safe from that with IVF, or DE.

Or do we go straight to DE?

See what I mean -- I am sooooo confused!!

But then I feel like I'm putting so much pressure on DE- that will be the be all end all of this whole thing.

HELP-- I need a different perspective and you guys are always so helpful.Chat Icon
Thanks for reading this.Chat Icon

Geez, Lori....I feel so bad that you have to even make this type of decision.

I know this sounds terrible, but can you afford to do another IVF cycle and then still move onto DE if it doesn't work? It's terrible to have to consider that, but $$$$ definitely factors into a lot of these decisions.

How long does the DE process take? Maybe you can do 1 more IVF cycle while preparing for DE in case the IVF doesn't work? (Obviously, praying that IVF works, but at least you would have the gears in motion for DE if the cycle didn't work.)

I'm so sorry that you have to think about any of this.

I am sorry you need to think about this....For having 4 IVF cycles myself I do know what you mean....

Me personally, I would try another IVF and perhaps change RE?? sometimes a change (new protocol, new lab) might make a difference...

I do hope you make the decision which is right for you!

So sorry you even have to face this decision. I can't even imagine how hard emotionally it is on you but I think if you have it in you, you should try to do one more IVF.

I hope either decision you make you get a positive result! Best of luck to you.

Inhididng, I really don't want to change RE, I feel like mine is on a mission nowChat Icon
But I totally understand where you're coming from. Did you swiitch RE?
How did you handle 4 cycles??

Jenn, fortunately we are blessed with a very generous family who wants to se our dream come true as much as we do so $$ is not an issue right now. I think it's more of an emotional, stress issue for me.

I actually think you might want to go with another IVF but maybe take a few months off just to get yourself both emotionally and physically in the right mindset for it. Sometimes just taking a small break can help. Chat Icon

For me money is always a factor, if I had it (or it was covered) I would try one more time and prep for DE options.

If not, I would then move onto the DE process.

I know DH and I had all these rules and protocols when this process began, but your emotions and feelings change over time and things just change and so did our decisions. What does your DH want to do?

DH is fine with whatever I decide.
You are so right about feelings changing over time- I said i wouldn't do it again after the 1st cycle and now here I am thinking about #3

Oh Lori, I am so sorry you're going through all of this Chat Icon Chat Icon

My advice would be to do one more IVF with PGD. It's the one thing you haven't tried yet with your own eggs, i definitely think it's worth a shot. if there is an issue with your eggs, PGD might help to find the ones that are the best and then you can implant those.

Best of luck to you in whatever you decide, all our prayers are with you

This is what I was going to suggest. If your insurance doesn't cover it but money isn't an issue, I would do PGD.

If an RE was willing to try another IVF that's what my choice would be.

Wishing you the very best of luck Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I think you will know if you are done with IVF or if you know you need to give it one more go. I think us girls have that instict that speaks to us when we need. I hope that somewhere in the peaceful quiet time that you have, you can find the answer within.

I love that your family is willing and able to help you financially. What a gift of love!!!Chat Icon

Thanks everyone!
I really think I'm leaning towards trying onour own one last time - hoping for the best , but if it doesn't work then go to DE
I don't think I can bring myself to cycle again.
Honestly I am really tired of all this, and I don't think think I can handle it for much longer.

Good luck, Lori!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Definitely don't do PGD. My DH has a translocation too. I got pregnant on the non-PGD cycle. PGD often wrongly identifies good embies as bad. Just be sure to put back a lot of embies and you will be fine. Go for another cycle!

Lori I agree I wouldn't do PGD. It only test for some chromosomal issues not all. CGH is the better test if you have the $$$ but you would have to do a FET. I would do one more IVF then move onto DE. Best of Luck in your decision Sweetie.

Re: Decisions, decisions, decisions- ugh! WWYD??

Speaking personally now...

After my miscarriage I just had an even greater urge to get PG. Initially my DH approached me about starting to conceive and I was iffy on the idea but after everything was said and done and I did get pregnant and then lost the baby... it got me into the mode to keep trying! When it comes down to it, its your own decision but as you, I did feel a little scared to continue the process at first, because I had a lot of "what if" feelings... I am a true believe of whatever is meant to be will be so I just pray that the FET cycle will be our lucky shot!!! If not, I will continue and take the doctors advice of course and keep going....
