Decor help

I have a closed white fireplace in my livingroom, but everything else, mouldings, stair rails, blinds, floors, are oak. I need bookcase storage and a place to put my pictures and certain vases. Should I go with white or oak bookcases? Tall or short? Help! Thanks!External Image

Re: Decor help

I would do white built-in style cabinetry.

Re: Decor help

White definitely.

Since you have that AC or heating unit on the wall - I don't think you can do tall...

So maybe some short bookcases with shelves above?

I agree with built-ins but if they aren't in your budget or if you are looking for something less permanent, I recently bought Ikea Hemnes bookcases/cabinets and I love them! I have them on either side of my fireplace and I think they look great!

I bought the two cabinets on each end, -- this pic is not from my house:

Pottery barn has these, which I really liked too, but they were out of my budget:

Re: Decor help

I ended up picking out these open shelves in white from IKEA because they are the tallest ones that I could find, they have a matching moulding on top, they fit perfectly on the two sides of my fireplace and they're not $$$$.

Thank you!
