Decrease in Movement?- Update
I'm 32 weeks (almost). Just last Thursday, baby started moving tons and tons, where I could feel her lunging back & forth in there & could see the ripples & bulging from the outside (not just the twitch-looking kicks from weeks before). And she did that for several days, lots and lots of movement. And when she'd move, and I'd rub where she just moved, she'd move back in response to my hand.
But since maybe Weds., she's not doing this anymore. I keep feeling a hardness on my left side, that I'm assuming is a body part, but it just settles there. I'm really not getting too much movement from her, and I'm particularly watching during the times she normally is very active (laying down, etc.) I drank a whole pint of OJ this morning then went back to lay down for 45 minutes, and she only flutterred for a sec or two. And she's not appearing to respond to my hand when I rub my belly, like she had been.
I'm going to call the doc & try to get in today. What will they do, just listen to the heartbeat? Except for a lazy baby, what could be the cause of movement decreasing so much? Low fluid? What should they do if I get in to the Dr.'s today to check her out?
Thanks ladies. I'm obviously anxious and stressing a little, why won't she just shake it up in there?
Update: Thanks for the concern & advice ladies. They took me in at 10am, and gave me a sono first & the NST (non-stress test I think). As soon as she turned on the sono, it was a HUGE sign of relief. Heart was beating, she was practicing her breathing, she said everything looks great. She was doing some measurements, and said everything looks great, she must be being lazy the last few days. She was wiggling her toes, and waving her hands, but the tech wanted baby to give a big kick, and she wouldn't do it! She poked & poked for probably 5 minutes before baby cooperated. Stubborn girl! But then they hooked me up the the NST machine for I think 15 minutes, I had no contrations (thankfully!) and her heartrate was great, I could feel movement at times (why did she wait to stress me? ). Doc said everything looked great, no concerns, and reiterated that they're happy I came in, I should not have ignored it, it's better to be safe than sorry (glad she said that, I was feeling guilty for taking up their time). So, thankfully, everything's great. She said that I should lay on my side for an hour, no TV or anything, each day if possible, and should feel 10 movements (kicks, general movement, etc.) If not, call them.
Oh, from the sono, they told me also: -she's about 4 pounds -she was practicing her breathing -she has lots of hair on her head! -they confirmed again that she's a girl! Never can hear the confirmation too many times! -she's measuring perfectly -she was wiggling her toes and waving her hands, then yawning and sticking out her tongue.
So adorable!

Re: Decrease in Movement?
I'm sure everything is fine.
I'm right around the same time as you, and my baby does the same thing. She has days of intense movement all day long, and then she gets tired and isn't so active for a day or two. I wouldn't be overanalyzing just yet about 'what' it could be (no reason to cause extra worry).
Please let us know what your doctor says.

Re: Decrease in Movement?
I am 31 wks. And at the beginning of this week my VERY active little boy was not moving much for 2 days. I was concerned too. Yesterday, he started to move again. To my relief!!!!
I read that movement are becoming irregular towards the end. They are running out of room, etc...
If you don't feel anything today, I would call the dr.

Re: Decrease in Movement?
I had some "off" days around this time too. This past weekend I noticed a decrease in movement & then lo- & behold I had a growth spurt & the nugget is moving around like crazy again. If it really worries you call your Dr, but it is not entirely uncommon

Re: Decrease in Movement?
Definitely a good idea to call the doctor.
In the meanwhile, I would suggest having a little soda with caffeine...sit or lay down without any distractions and try to see if she moves. My doctor advises that we want 10 movements within 2 hours.

Re: Decrease in Movement?
Thanks so much ladies. I know I'll always get reassurance on this board
The office opens at 9am, so I'll be calling soon. I hate to be a worry-wart, but it's just such a drastic difference in a few days, it's strange. I've never even had to call my dr. with a question, I"ve been so lucky this pregnancy. Guess today's my lucky day!!
I'll update, hopefully they'll want me to come in.

Re: Decrease in Movement?
Mine does the same thing, I am 33 weeks, but I have noticed that at night when I am lying down I still feel it, though not in the middle of the night as much. I started to worry too, but it seems like whenever I start to worry I get kicked.
Let us know what the Dr says if you do call.

Hmm, maybe I'll get some hot chocolate. Usually OJ works wonders on getting her moving, DH got me a pint glass full this morning, and I laid in bed for 45 minutes waiting for her to move (She's usually very active that time, even w/o the OJ)...and I got barely a flutter. She wasn't active yesterday morning either, or much at all yesterday even.

Re: Decrease in Movement?
I'm 39 weeks and the same thing happened to me. My son is usually beating the crap out of me, but Sunday, MOn, Tues he was very inactive. I was trying everything... drinking OJ, caffine, playing music poking and prodding and he was barely responding. My doctor sent me for a sonogram and a stress test Wed. Baby was fine, fluid was fine. I think sometimes they just have down days like the rest of us. Plus, their space is getting more and more limited.

Re: Decrease in Movement?
My doctor said to wait until she is most active time of the day and count 6 movements in 1 hour drink juice or have candy or something if she is quiet. Otherwise call them. It maybe she is just having a quiet day. They might have you come in and hook you up to a monitor but honestly I wouldn't worry too much. I definitely have a few days where she is much quietier than others.

Re: Decrease in Movement?
Any word?
I've read that the movement decreases due to lack of room.... but just wondering what your Dr. said?

What a relief! I am glad your Dr was concerned & understanding & that they let you know that it was OK to come in. Its great to have that kind of support!
The sono must have been incredible seeing everything going on!
