Decreased movement?
I usually feel baby consistently throughout the day (a lot in the morning and before I go to bed). I haven't had much action this weekend (except for when I was awoken by a bad dream Saturday night at 3:30am & couldn't go back to sleep the baby was kicking). Anyway, I'm wondering if I should start worrying. I just had some juice and laid on my side for 25 minutes and nothing.

Re: Decreased movement?
Starting around 34 weeks, slowed down a lot. Now I just feel her pushing here and there or rolling to get in a comfy spot. Other than that, I don't feel much.

Re: Decreased movement?
I called my MD and they told me to go to L&D tonight to be monitored just to be cautious.
Really? Does this seem extreme?

Re: Decreased movement?
This can happen towards the end of pregnancy. If you dont feel the baby move at all during the day then there is a need to worry.
If I didnt feel enough activity while i was carrying DS I would drink something sweet and then lie on my left side. That would usually work. But you should feel the baby kicking atleast 8-10 times per hour.

Re: Decreased movement?
I vomited this morning so I wonder if the lack of movement is due to dehydration - I 'm trying to drink some water now before I decide if I need to go to L&D.

Re: Decreased movement?
if your doc says go, you should go, if only for peace of mind. they can monitor you for a short time and then send you on your way if everything looks good. good luck!
ETA: it doesn't seem extreme to me, just cautious. better safe than sorry.

Re: Decreased movement?
Thanks - I'd imagine she's saying to go b/c what else is she going to say? If I call and say I have a concern about movement, I'm sure legally she doesn't want to ignore it. I'm just a little startled b/c I really just assumed they let me drop by the office for a check-up for peace of mind. Thank you!

Re: Decreased movement?
I would go just to be sure and make you mind at rest that the baby is ok ~ especially if the dr says go then I would definately go...

The further along you get the more you'll hear a doctor tell you to go to L&D - they have bigger cooler machines But seriously, like everyone said...as you get further along it's very normal for the movement to slow down - the more the baby grows the less room he/she has. But since you are so far along - any time you are concerned a doctor is going to either check you out or have you checked out. We know our bodies and our babies better than anyone so they take us seriously. L&D is the recommendation because they have the equipment and are set up to handle anything...but don't let it scare you!!! Everything is okay
You might want to go just to see. Totally not unusual and it will put your mind at ease.

Re: Decreased movement?
they are going to say to go, b/c of the malpractice. plus if you have less movement why not get monitored. Get to see your baby

I went through something similar recently and they sent me to L&D which I too thought was extreme..., in the end I was in L&D for 5 hours watching the heartbeat on the monitor. Not exciting, but it was a good test run of what to expect when I do go into labor. And it gave me peace of mind that baby was OK. I think you should go.
