def tmi re: after delivery issue

This is kind of embarrassing, and def TMI but I have to ask...

I am miserable, I pushed for 2.5 hours and I have a feeling the pushing did a bang up job on my bowels. I have been taking Colace for Days and still just can't get comfy.

I am at my end, my epistomy doesn't hurt as much as this!

What can I do? Did this happen to anyone else?

I am seconds away from taking milk of magnesia..

Michelle I'm sorry - I had the c-section and had a horrible time with gas after that - but I think it was more bc of the surgery. But I drank a lot of water and took stool softeners. I hope you feel better!

I went through the same thing - I joked with my doctor that it was 10X more painful than labor! Chat Icon Continue taking the colace and increase your liquids A LOT. If you can, try doing a liquid diet for a day. If you eat solids, make sure they are very fibrous - lots of veggies. It WILL get better in a day or so, I promise!!Chat Icon

I also had a VB and from the day I delivered to the day I went home they were giving me a laxitive each day and a stool softner and my first bowel movement wasnt until the day I went home and I was nervous because I also had an episomity. I would continue to drink alot of water and maybe try a different brand. The prenatal vitamins I was taking had Citcal it regulated me because I never regular to begin with. If you pushed for that long you probably have hemmoroids aswell. I am not sure what the hospital told you for peri care but what they gave me and I continued at home for 10 days was putting tucks cloths on the pad and then 1% dibucaine cream. The cream is on the expensive side considereing it doesnt last very long because you need to put a decent amount on but it does help. I purchased the cream at Walgreens and I was using that cream in the hospital. I did try the Preparation H pads but they irriated me and the Tucks was much better, it is what they gave me in the hospital aswell. I hope you feel better and your daughter is beautiful by the way

I take Fiber Choice. They are chewable fruit flavored fiber pills. They are definitely a life savor! I lived on them while I was pregnant.

Oh my I really do feel for you. You could have a fissure which is basically a tear inside your rectum and every time you go to the bathroom it seems to get irritated. Definitely stay on the stool softeners, drink TONS of water and take warm baths as often as you can.
Unfortunately mine took 5 months to heal Chat Icon You can google fissure and maybe get some more tips as well. It is truly awful, I know. I hope it gets better for you really soon. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: def tmi re: after delivery issue

This really stinks!! I just came back from the dr and I blew a stitch, it should heal ok. I haven't really been eating much, plus BF so all my liquids are going towards my milk.

Well back on my colace, and milk of magnesia! I really hope there is a light at the end of this tunnel!

I get through this pain only by lookin at Gianna's sweet face and realizing it was all worth it!

ETS: So far no to little damage inside, I am going to assume no fissure, but the outside oh boy...

I do have the tucks and debucaine ointment, I stopped using it, but I am going to try it again.

Thank you!!
