defrosting meat
stupid question, i've never done it. i have ground beef in the fridge and it is still frozen from the freezer last night but i want to cook it. can i? ive never defrosted meat in the microwave...anyone? suggestions? TIA

I do not like the idea of defrosting meat in the microwave. I like for the meat to defrost on its own.

i am no martha stewart but the microwave has a defrost button and i use it all the time. you just have to watch it to make sure it does not start cooking.

DH taught me a GREAT trick!! take the package of meat and put it (sealed!) into a pot of room temp water. it will thaw in less than 30 minutes! I swear it works.

If you do use the micro, make sure you take off the plastic wrap first- that will make it cook (it'll cook anyway if it's left too long but it happens faster with the plastic on- I know from experience )
