Delaware Marathon in December

Hi!

Has anyone ever ran the Rehoboth Beach Delaware marathon? I'm thinking about doing it as my first one. It is on Saturday, December 7 this year. I was curious to get some feedback, if possible.

TIA!!

The Rehoboth Beach one? I have a good friend that ran it 2012 for her first marathon. She loved it - said it was small but she enjoyed it. If you have any specific questions i can ask for you.

Yes, that's the one! Sorry, I edited the name in my post. I'm glad to hear that! I've heard it's pretty flat too and since it's my first one I'm okay with that :). I will definitely fm you if I ever have any specific questions, I really appreciate it!

My husband and I will actually be getting back from Hawaii on October 4 so I was thinking December would be better to give me more time in between for the bulk of my training. I will still have to do a 14 mile run and some shorter runs while I'm away but at least I'll have a good amount of weeks still to go once we get home. Also I did a half marathon end of September last year so most of the training was in the summer. I think I want to take a break from that this year :). The heat just kills me when running. Really appreciate the suggestion though, maybe I will do the half as part of my training :). Thanks!!

Yes, that's a good idea. I hate summer marathon training.

There's also Kiawah, SC in December and Philly is fat and the weekend before t-giving.

FWIW - I go back and forth with the 50 state challenge and never doing another marathon again (summer training...LOL) - but Rohoboth would be my DE race.

How about running Miami in January? Or do you want to stay in driving distance?

Re: Delaware Marathon in December

Thanks for the suggestion! Driving distance would prob be best. Also, running a marathon is the last item on my pre-baby bucket list LOL (after Hawaii). So the sooner I get it done, the sooner my husband and I can try to have a baby! Haha

Eta: I meant to quote Rachel's post, whoops!

I think they still do a winter marathon that is 4 loops. At least you are guaranteed fans 4 times. On the new course DH and DSs were on a wild goose chase with this point to point...but they had a good time doing it.
