Delays in Multiples? Reaching milestones?

Multiples mommies, did you see this with you DC?

I have 5 mths olds who arent rolling over yet. I do belly time, they HATE it.

I did some research prior to having my twins and many did report that multiples can and will have delays.

Even verbally, like they are late talkers.

Just curious.

Thanks.

I was only told that mine might be on a 2 month delay but only bc they were born 2 months early. So even though they are 3 months they should really be only 1 month at this point and doing 1 month old things. Which makes sense. But as far as full term twins I hadnt heard of anything like that.

Re: Delays in Multiples? Reaching milestones?

I know a few Moms of multiples and they all day there is some type of delay...the trio were born at 36 weeks.....my DS is the most delayed in doing things....my DD who was the last one out did everything first and seems to be the most advanced. They didnt start to roll until 6 months and my DS was 9 months so I wouldnt worry at all. When the kids are ready they will do their own thing....dont rush it trust me bc there will be a day you wished they were still laying around and not mobile....LOL

This is an interesting topic. I worry about my smaller twin all the time. They are 4 1/2 months and just started rolling over. One twin is very strong and the other doesn't have the same strength. I hope it works out and he gets stronger. I guess they all are different and will do things on their own time.

Re: Delays in Multiples? Reaching milestones?

i have noticed that the twins are doing things much slower than my first DS did. they also hate belly time and while they both have rolled over a number of times, it is not consistent at all and sometimes they will go days w/o rolling over??
their dr told me to expect them to be about a month behind because they were born at 35 weeks...

my twins seem to do things a month or so after my older DS did.
also.....don't compare them to G, a lot of times girls do things before boys

My boys who are 4, were delayed in reaching almost all their milestones. They didn't walk until 13 and 14 months, didn't crawl until 7 and 9 months. Use to drive me crazy, but they were a month premature so I am sure that added to it.

Re: Delays in Multiples? Reaching milestones?

i dont know but am curious too, mine are almost 5 months and one rolls over every now and then and the other only rolled one time. i have been trying to do more belly time to see if that helps. mine aren't big fans of belly time either but i do notice since i am doing it more their arms are gettting stronger so they stay on it longer than they used to. i also have been using putting one on the boppy in thier crib while i dress the other just to squeeze in some more belly time.
