So what do I get a student teacher who
you get her a good hard lesson on what it will be like if that crap continues. Sometimes, if no one spells it out, they're clueless. Even though it should be obvious. Best gift you can give them.

Umm..I never got anything as a "gift" when I was student teaching...I don't know that the kids even made me cards...so...I guess my vote on this one is..nothing..edited to say I agree with the PP as well...entitlement is not an attractive quality in a job candidate...

A cruddy evaluation! No way I would even be thinking about a gift. I had one student teacher who came well recommended and I would probably never take one again. She was totally unprepared, unreliable, and no matter how many times I tried to lay things out for her she just didn't get it. I definitely didn't get her a gift.

A book of career ideas that don't involve teaching.
In all seriousness, I would reach out to her supervisor. In the end you might be doing her a favor since she clearly does not seem invested and maybe she doesn't want to be a teacher.
ETA: My cooperating teachers didn't give me a gift and I didn't expect one. They did give me very nice letters of recommendation, which IMO was the best thing they could have given me.

For the record, I've said something to her and to her supervisor (who made a blanket statement to the group regarding this stuff). At this point, I'm thinking it's just going to be her lesson to learn. She will be a good teacher, she has discipline and management down, she is resourceful. But her attitude will not be missed. Some things she has down prompted me to make a handout regarding do's and don't's for if the time comes to have another one.
