Dental Insurance?
My DH just found out that he needs 2 caps, which translates to $2,000...
Neither of us have dental insurance through our jobs. Does anyone have any recommendations for insurance that we can get ourselves? (I know that he may have to wait a while to get the work done, but $2,000 is just too much for us right now anyway.)
Thanks for your help!

Re: Dental Insurance?
$2,000 for dental caps?? That sounds a bit harsh. My root canals did not cost that much and i got a cap done after the root canal and taht cost me between $300-$400 bucks. I would get a second estimate from another dentist.

Re: Dental Insurance?
yeah they are that expensive. only because lab fees are so high and then there is a lot of work behind it. but you could always get other quotes, i'm sure there are some dentists who charge less but just be careful. eta: i dont' know if it's worth it to get your own insurance, sometimes they barely pay out even though you are paying a lot of money to them. i would find a insurance participating dentist and then go from there. metlife, healthplex, empire bcbs, cigna, guardian are a few to check out.

Re: Dental Insurance?
it might be worth asking your dentist for the "non benefits price"

it's illegal to do that. the fee should be the same for everyone.

I know of many dentists who give you a price break or a payment plan for those who don't have dental insurance. I have a dentist I used to go to in NY if you want to FM me. They give you payment plans if yuou need them.
