deoderizing/cleaning carpets?
we will be closing around 7/31 and the former owners (well current) are smokers... seemed for awhile they smoked int he house but not at t he present time.. but theres still that smell that is very distinguishable.. we want to replace the carpet totally but its out of our budget right now so we rae looking for an economical alternative... such as cleaning, deodarizing..
do those machines from supermarket/home depot work the steam clean ones?
any help woudl be appreciated thanks!

Re: deoderizing/cleaning carpets?
I had this problem. I had the carpets professionally cleaned and deoderized.
The smell is in the walls too, so we have been painting ever surface we can, with a good primer and new paint, it has made a world of difference. We did have to replace one carpet that was beyond being slavaged.

I think there's also addditive you can put in paint/primer that add scent or help neutralize smells. I've seen that on Deisgned to Sell.

We had the carpets professionally cleaned by Chem Dry. So worth it!

Chem Dry is wonderful for this! They are more expensive than regular carpet cleaners but worth the extra $$ for something like this. The have a spray deoderizer that they use after they clean that smells great.
