Designer bag question
I was never a designer bag person. I would always just buy whatever I liked that I thought was cute and if I saw it at Target so be it. I always hated the thought of spending a ton of money on something like that.
However, the cheap ones just don't last.
Who can recommend a nice cross body bag that is roomy but not too bulky and not ostentatious (I don't need LVs or Cs all over the place.) Also, I need it to last because I hate shopping.
Under $400 please.
TIA

Designer bag question
Most of my bags are from the Kate Spade outlet. I really like her bags and quality. Never had an issue with one not lasting.

Re: Designer bag question
I agree with the outlets but Dooney and Burke make good cross body bags. I have one that i got a good deal on from Macy's.

Designer bag question
Not designer according to LIF standards...but I have a bunch of Dooney & Burke bags that I love....some I have had for over 10 years and are in great shape. I don't have a crossbody from them, but I would check them out.

This. I have had designer bags that fall apart faster than my Kohl's specials.

Re: Designer bag question
I bought a coach bag from outlet 3+ years ago. Still in good condition. You don't have to get monogrammed. I personally do not like that. It's plain black leather w a small coach logo at the top.
I also have Kate spade bags, from outlet of course (I refuse to pay a lot for a bag) her bags also have been good to me
Check marshalls. I've found decent bags there too

I have a coach bag that is at least 4 years old, that is lightly wearing down. Spent less than a 100 at coach outlet and it does not have the coach label plastered on it all over the place.
I bought a replacement bag for it last year, thinking it would not last, but I was wrong.
Best money spent on a bag in a long time.

ITA with the pp= Coach crossbody bag from the outlets.... I've had it for 7 or 8 years. I honestly don't wear it every day, but it looks brand new. Mine is like this but with thinner sraps

Designer bag question
I have found my coach ones last the longest. I have a dooney and bourke too that has lasted a while. It is true that just because it's designer doesn't mean it's good. I had gotten a small Gucci one as a gift and it broke. That said I've had the same coach bags and Michael kids bags for YEARS and had no issues. I have a coach from the 80s that was my grandmas she used for years and now I use it all the time as well

I don't actually own one, but I hear good things about MZ Wallace. Price point is right, no big logos and I hear they're sturdy.

Another vote for coach. I received 2 coach bags as gifts & I have to say they're in great condition years later.

Re: Designer bag question
I think leather quality is more important than designer name for the bag to last.
There are plenty of designer bags out there that are made of fabric or fake leather and that's the reason they don't last.
The monogrammed coach bags that are made of fabric look like shyt after less than a year of heavy use.
A good leather bag, however, will last for many years.
Kate Spade leather bags last and hold well I found. I have a few other nice bags but I don't use them every day so I can't comment on how well they hold up.

That's my go to as well. They are very simple and well constructed.
ETA: And they have huge sales like once a week.

Re: Designer bag question
I like Tory Burch or Coach. I feel they last the best. I also want to add that best place to buy it from is Nordstroms if you're going to spend the money. Even though they don't really have too many sales they will price match. Plus, they take it back and get you a new one if anything happens. I had a TB bag that was peeling after about a year. I happened to be in there for makeup and walked to the bag section and mentioned to them. They asked a few questions and before I knew it they exchanged it for a brand new one and switched all my stuff from the old to the new bag.

Designer bag question
If you like bags with a bit of a whimsical design, Betsey Johnson bags are nice and reasonable. My two most recent bags have been Betsey bags and they seem nice and sturdy.

You don't even need the receipt? How would they know you got it there otherwise?

Nordstrom is known for their customer service. Such a great place to shop. I returned shoes I wore that hurt me...didn't have receipt, took them back with no problem. I haven't returned anything there in a couple years, but I know they used to bend over backwards for you.

Designer bag question
Speaking of good customer service...I bought a MK bag at Macy's, and the hardware was tarnishing on it less than a year later. So I happened to be walking by the MK store in the mall, and stopped in to ask about it and they said I could pay to have them send it out for repair. Then she said just go back to Macy's and tell them and they take anything back. I went into Macy's and explained the situation. I didn't have the receipt, she tried to look it up with my CC, but it wouldn't come up. Then she came back from the stock room, told me to unload my bag and brought me a new one out! I was floored!
