Re: Designer bag question
Posted by TwinMommyToBoys
I have found my coach ones last the longest. I have a dooney and bourke too that has lasted a while. It is true that just because it's designer doesn't mean it's good. I had gotten a small Gucci one as a gift and it broke. That said I've had the same coach bags and Michael kids bags for YEARS and had no issues. I have a coach from the 80s that was my grandmas she used for years and now I use it all the time as well
Yes, I have some Coach ones .. .I only buy all leather ones. They do not go on sale as much except you could get a good deal on one at the outles.

Speaking of good customer service...I bought a MK bag at Macy's, and the hardware was tarnishing on it less than a year later. So I happened to be walking by the MK store in the mall, and stopped in to ask about it and they said I could pay to have them send it out for repair. Then she said just go back to Macy's and tell them and they take anything back. I went into Macy's and explained the situation. I didn't have the receipt, she tried to look it up with my CC, but it wouldn't come up. Then she came back from the stock room, told me to unload my bag and brought me a new one out! I was floored!
Wow. That's awesome!

I'm not a fan of the C's - but for quality leather, Coach is a good option. And the outlet is always having huge sales on top of their already discounted pricing.
I also have a leather Cole Haan bag (that's huge and not what you're looking for) but, I've had it about 10 years and the leather is still exceptional -

I know! Fast forward to like 2 months later, the new bag's hardware was tarnishing also (will never buy another MK bag!). So I returned it and got store credit.
I just bought myself a nice Coach bag there for Christmas, and my thought was if it goes to crap, Macy's will take it back! I saved my receipt and tags this time! ! I absolutely love the bag though, and the quality is so nice! Even the zipper zips sooo smoothly!

I also have a Cole Haan that I love. It is cross body, but probably smaller than you are looking for. I got it at Nordstrom rack. I haven't had it long, but it seems to be well made.

This is the one I bought...you can wear it cross body with the long strap, but I actually took that long strap off. The leather is SOO soft, it's really nice IRL!

Cole Haan bags are awesome. I got one at the outlets a few years ago. Love it.

I like Tory Burch or Coach. I feel they last the best. I also want to add that best place to buy it from is Nordstroms if you're going to spend the money. Even though they don't really have too many sales they will price match. Plus, they take it back and get you a new one if anything happens. I had a TB bag that was peeling after about a year. I happened to be in there for makeup and walked to the bag section and mentioned to them. They asked a few questions and before I knew it they exchanged it for a brand new one and switched all my stuff from the old to the new bag.
Wow. That's great customer service.
You don't even need the receipt? How would they know you got it there otherwise?
Nordstrom is known for their customer service. Such a great place to shop. I returned shoes I wore that hurt me...didn't have receipt, took them back with no problem. I haven't returned anything there in a couple years, but I know they used to bend over backwards for you.
I should return my Ivanka Trump torture device patent leather pumps that hurt my feet so bad I had to cut the feet off my tights so i could drive home in flip flops I THINK I got them at Nordstrom
Do it! Just make sure they carry that brand first...worst they can say is no and at best you will have a store credit to get something else!

Not designer according to LIF standards...but I have a bunch of Dooney & Burke bags that I love....some I have had for over 10 years and are in great shape. I don't have a crossbody from them, but I would check them out.
Are you saying that Dooney & Bourke is not a designer bag according to LIF standards? What does that mean?

I think she meant that it's not a super high end designer like LV or Chanel or Prada
It's a lower priced designer bag

I don't know why this came up almost a month after the posting but yes, what Nell said is what I meant . When most ladies on here say designer, they mean LV, Prada, Gucci etc.. Dooney is in the Coach price range. I consider it designer, but my standards are lower than most, lol!!

Sorry but your exact words were "Not designer according to LIF standards." "Not designer." This comes up a month later because I do not have that much time to spend on the boards. I just chuckled because I was thinking "since when did the world change and everyone become so wealthy that they could afford a Prada, Chanel or LV bag. I live in a nice Nassau County suburban town and don't own one. That is all, no harm meant.

just because its a designer bag, doesnt mean it will last. I always get my bags from the outlets. I never EVER EVERRRRRRRR pay retail.
Same here!! I will say that I am very rough on my bags and my coach bags are very durable.

I don't actually own one, but I hear good things about MZ Wallace. Price point is right, no big logos and I hear they're sturdy.
Love MZ Wallace. Only bag I will carry with lots of cross.body options. Check out the mia and be hailey.

I know what my exact words were. I think I explained quite clearly what I meant Do a search on here, and you will see when designer comes up, it's not Dooney, Coach, MK...it;s the luxury brands. I always shake my head also. But this is also the board that doesn't think you can live on a 100K! I love Dooney, obviously that is why I suggested it, don't know how I can make my answer more clear, and really , I don't care to!
