Desparate for some sleep help, I can barely function at work today.
I need some help. My 15 week old DS is not sleeping well at all. He still wakes up once a night for a bottle but that's not the problem. Problem is that lately some nights he is waking up an additional 2-3 times! Last night I was up with him on/off from 1 AM-3AM He was just not able to sleep well. I saw it when I first put him down (I watch the monitor), he just kept moving and startling. He 1st woke at 10:30PM which he never does.
I cannot and could not last night figure out what was wrong. I rocked him, shushed him, and nothing would work. I had a weird feeling something was wrong but no idea what. (maybe i'm losing it) I cannot go on this way. I am barely functioning today.
I've noticed that he'll wake up and look around a little while and then start crying. Maybe it's true that he can't self-soothe (but, he used to be awake when i put him in his cradle - he's in a crib now). He's not a fan of the paci, he spits it out when he's done and keeps sleeping.
How do I teach self-soothing? I'm desparate. I'm also considering dream-feeding. Is it because he doesn't have a nightlight?
Someone please show me the way b/c I'm sleeping less now than when he was a newborn.
ETA: I don't really want to dreamfeed but I am desparate!!! I don't want to create bad eating habits but I don't know what else to do.

Why would you dreamfeed if he isn't hungry?
Anyway, I bet he is about to hit a milestone or is going through a growth spurt and that definitely throws off their sleep schedules.
And you kinda learn to deal with it, my DS was up at least 1x a night until we did CIO when he turned one

Sounds like the four month regression. Not much you can do except wait for it to past.

Yup, DS did the same thing (also the same time I returned to work!). It lasted a month or two. In the meantime, caffeine is your friend!

Mine did the same thing at 4 months. It lasted a month or 2 and then I did CIO!

Oh I feel the same way....I started back at work last week and dd used to only wake up once a night or at least give me 5-6 hour stretches. This week she has been getting up a lot more...last night she was up at 3, 4 and then again at 6:15am...it's really getting to me-especially driving to and from work with her in the car-I have a 45-50min commute and she goes to the daycare at my job. I think it might be a growth spurt thing.
ETA:dd is 14 wks

Anyone else? Desparate is putting it mildly. I think my patients are starting to notice (i'm a psychologist)

Do you swaddle him or anything? Is he in a sleep sack? Do you have anything he likes to listen to (for ex. I have a fan running in my DS's room). I highly recommend the book "Baby Sleep Solution" by Suzy Giordano. It helps you to teach the baby how to self soothe. I am not a personal fan of dream feeding, IMO if they eat before they go to bed, and learn to self soothe, you don't need to feed them if they are not hungry.
