Re: dessert ideas

you can make chocolate truffles, they are very easy

1 package of cream cheese softenend(philadelphia)
1 package of oreo cookies - grinded in food processor
1 bar of semi sweet bakers chocolate

set aside 5 cookies in a separate bowl (Put them in the food processor separately)

mix remaining cookies and cream cheese.

form into 3/4 - 1inch (bite size) balls and place onto a cookie sheet lined with wax paper.

melt entire bar of chocolate in double boiler.

Dip each individual truflle into the chocolate (i use two forks to do this) and place back onto cookie sheet lined with wax paper.

Sprinkle remaining cookie crumbs onto the truffles.

refrigerate until chocolate hardens and enjoy.

your guests will NEVER guess they have cream cheese in them!

Re: dessert ideas

Is this going to be the only dessert? If not, then I have a great recipe for brownies from scratch. Always a big hit. But if it's the only dessert you might not want just brownies.

Re: dessert ideas

i know you said they like chocolate, but in summer i always LOVE stuff with berries.... a really simple light thing that DH and i make is angel food cake and after we pour the batter into the pan ( before we cook it) we drop in some fresh raspberries so they're all through the cake when you cut it... soooo good!!

This is also from The Food Network

Watermelon and Cantaloupe Salad with Mint and Basil Vinaigrette Recipe courtesy Giada DeLaurentiis, 2007
See this recipe on air Saturday Jun. 09 at 4:00 PM ET/PT.

1/2 watermelon
1 cantaloupe, cut in half, seeded
2 tablespoons freshly chopped mint leaves plus whole sprigs, for garnish

Re: dessert ideas

Okay...I know by reading the ingredients this sounds totally gross, but it's delish.

Strawberry Pretzel Salad

2 cups crushed pretzels
3/4 cup butter, melted
3 tablespoons white sugar

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 cup white sugar
1 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed

2 (3 ounce) packages strawberry flavored gelatin
2 (10 ounce) packages frozen strawberries

DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
2. Stir together crushed pretzels, melted butter and 3 tablespoons sugar; mix well and press mixture into the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish.
3. Bake 8 to 10 minutes, until set. Set aside to cool.
4. In a large mixing bowl cream together cream cheese and 1 cup sugar. Fold in whipped topping. Spread mixture onto cooled crust.
5. Dissolve gelatin in boiling water. Stir in still frozen strawberries and allow to set briefly. When mixture is about the consistency of egg whites, pour and spread over cream cheese layer.

Refrigerate until set.

Ice cream Pie

I make this all the time and people love it.

Buy two different quarts of Ice cream.
Carmel sauce
peanut butter
nuts
and candy (snickers is good)
Pudding pie crust.

Put ice on the bottom of the pie crust and top with nuts candy and carmel/peanut butter sauce (just mix the carmel and peanut butter)

Freeze

Once the first layer is hard repeat with a second layer.

It's the best!@
