Destination Maternity in Huntington - UPDATED
Hey girls,
Has anyone been to this store yet? Is it any better than the Motherhood stores in the mall? I got a ton of gift certificates and they are good at either place, so I was just wondering if Destination Maternity is that much better...let me know!!!
TIA!
OK, so I went and spent $200, BUT I did get some cute stuff. Here is my take on it...I'm not one of those people who likes salespeople jumping all over me as soon as I walk in the store and they did just that, but she was nice. Then since I had a pair of jeans in my hand she said she would put some other pairs in the dressing room for me to try on. The pairs I all brought in were between $40-$50...the pairs she brought in were between $100-$150. Kinda ridiculous. Then she continually asked if I needed any different sizes while I was in the dressing room (again, I'm the type of person that will tell the salespeople when I need help). The Motherhood stuff was priced OK, but IMO, I had seen all that stuff in Macy's for about the same price. Of course the Mimi maternity was pretty pricey, BUT very cute stuff. Although I didn't look at all the other stuff they had a ton of other "accessory type" items (lotions, books, pillows, etc.) Final verdict..cute stuff if you don't mind being followed around by a salesperson and you can either afford the prices OR get a good deal!
Thanks for all the advice girls!

I went there and was pleased. They have a huge selection of clothes (compared to the Motherhood Maternity store in my mall at least). Some are pricey, but others are more reasonable.

Re: Destination Maternity in Huntington
It's across from the mall, technically on Old Walt Whitman Rd. IT's just where Rt. 110 forks a bit and Old Walt Whitman Rd. starts on the right, one way (on that block) going south.
It's best to drive past the mall (north) and come back around Rt 110 heading south, keeping right where it forks.
BTW: The less expensive clothes are at the back of the store

RIP OFF...IMO!
There is motherhood in the back. I cant see spending all that money on maternity wear...just me.
For nice maternity clothes, GAP and esp now with some sales going on. Roosevelt Field has it now.

I've been to the one in New Jersey. I like it because it's really 3 stores in one (Pea in the Pod, Motherhood Maternity & Mimi Maternity) so there is a nice selection. Some of the stuff from Pea in the Pod is very expensive so I haven't bought anything from that part of it, but I liked it!

Re: Destination Maternity in Huntington
Its a very large store compared to any other maternity stores I have been in...and the staff is just great. They were a big help when I went there.
The Motherhood stuff is priced ok, of course the rest of the stuff is like $50 for a tank top but with giftcards, then GO nuts
Its bigger then the one in the Source Mall. a lot bigger.

I must have a stand-offish attitude - because whenever they ask me if I need help, I say no thanks, and they leave me alone. I don't even let them "start a dressing room" for me. I tell them - I'm still looking at what I have in my arms... usually that works....

Re: Destination Maternity in Huntington - UPDATED
Just an FYI for all of you....
If you go to the Motherhood section in Macy's; they have a 30 day return policy whereas Motherhood stores and Destination Maternity have a 10 day return policy. That's a big difference if you maybe returning items.

Me too. I was there two or three times. They asked if I needed help and I said no and they left me alone until I neded a dressing room.
I only shopped the racks in the back.

I would think that too about me (I also said "No thanks" several times) but the saleperson I had would NOT leave me alone lol! Every 5 minutes she came over to me, asked me if I needed help, what size I was, etc. Once or twice is fine to ask but she honestly did not stop. She also insisted on taking the few items I had in my hand for the dressing room and kept trying to guess my size, no matter how many times I said I wasn't sure, all the maternity lines fit me differently. Then when I went to pay I got solicited at the register with magazine offers, etc.
It may be company policy to continually ask if you need help but quite frankly I find it extremely annoying if I'm asked more than once or twice.
I do have to say they have great clothes though and a great selection. And they do range in price according to the line. Just go on a day where you're prepared to be continually approached by salespeople.
