When is the earliest your doctor was able to tell? I am getting anxious to know, and I am only 8 weeks

Re: Determining the baby's sex
Our first try was about 20 weeks and it took us until 28 weeks for her to be in position to tell.

Re: Determining the baby's sex
I was told at the Level 2 Sono they can tell, which is usually done around 20 weeks. I can feel for you...I am ANXIOUSLY awaiting that appointment! My next appt is Dec 6, for AFP, then we schedule the Level 2, hoping they'll do it before Xmas!!! B/c if my dad calls me ONE MORE TIME asking "So, do we know what it is yet?" I am going to scream!!

Re: Determining the baby's sex
We found out at the Level II at 20 weeks. I had a u/s at 13 weeks but they couldn't tell then and if they could have, I wouldn't have trusted the answer.

Re: Determining the baby's sex
If you have a 3D sono at 12 weeks do you think it would be possible to tell?
Our baby was spread-eagled on his back for the 8 wk appt. & his little arms/legs were clear as day...

I had regular and 3D in my 13th week, I asked Tech and Dr if they could tell the sex, both said it was too early!!

Re: Determining the baby's sex
I found out at 15 weeks.
The genitalia is present at 12 weeks, but can easily be mistaken. They wait until 20 weeks to be more definite....and there is always a chance for a mistake.
I asked this a few weeks ago if anyone got an "idea" of what they were having around 12 weeks and several mommies w/ girls said their sono techs "knew" but couldn't tell. I believe at that point the ovaries are in place and a tech can tell it's a girl.
I'll be 12 1/2 weeks when we go next week and I am hoping they can give me an idea that we can confirm later on

Re: Determining the baby's sex
They really can't be definite until week 19/20.
As Shana said before, they can take an educated guess before that but can still be wrong.
They didn't even offer to tell me until the 20 weel Ultrascreen. Once I saw one was a girl, there was no mistake the other was a boy. Right before DH said he hoped if the other was a boy that it didn't have "the family curse"
