Devastated...Need advice...
I just found out that my 2nd fresh IVF cycle failed according to the home pregnancy test I took this morning (beta tomorrow). First fresh and frozen cycle was garbage and yielded nothing (no blasts). I switched practices/ doctors and more than doubled the # of eggs and the quality was better. We put back an early and expanded blast this cycle and it failed again. I'm just not sure where to go from here. I have 3 frozen expanded blasts (not sure of the grade but I don't think SIRM freezes horrible embryos). I'm just having a hard time figuring out why this isn't working.

I'm sorry for your negative test. What meds were you on after retrieval? Have you been tested for immune issues?

Thanks for your help. I was on PIO, antibiotics, prednisone, delestrogen, suppositories , folgard, and a prenatal. My nk cells are within normal parameters but I do have a significant shift toward TH1 with the Th1/Th2 cytokine ratio.
My Dx is a tubal factor so I really thought this would have worked. I guess I will have to see what my Dr. says tomorrow.

Re: Devastated...Need advice...
I don't think switching from Dr. Wang to Dr. T is necessary IMO. They are both pretty much on the same page as to protocols and next steps. I was a patient of Dr. T and saw Dr. Wang also at monitoring appointments. I'm sure he will recommend an endometrial function test before your next FET. And they definitely don't freeze embryos that don't look good. So don't give up!! I'm sorry and keep the faith.

First of all I'm so sorry. It really sucks when you have decent quality embryos and get a BFN. Sometimes it just doesn't work. First IVF transferred 2 early blasts- BFN. 2nd IVF transferred 2 mid grade blasts chemical. FET transferred 2 mid grade blasts chemical. Then I switched to SIRM and worked with Dr. T. 3rd IVF transferred 2- 1 grade 1 and 1 grade 2. Out of 15 that fertilized I only had 2 to transfer and 1 to freeze. I had a bunch still going on day 5. So SIRM only will freeze high quality embryos. So you definitely have a good chance with those 3. I couldn't believe that I only had one to freeze after all that. I am preg from my 3rd IVF and I think its due to a different protocol and the immune meds. I did prednisone and intralipids. So please don't give up hope. See what Dr. Wang has to say and what he will change. Some people have more success with FET than fresh. Also if this fresh cycle didn't work I was going to do the EFT before another cycle. Oh and I know how stressful the last cycle with insurance is- This was our last partially covered by insurance cycle so if it didn't work then we were out of options.
Hang in there.

I don't have any advice for you because I'm just starting this journey but I'm so sorry to hear your news and I do hope the next time works. If the doctors are in the same practice (which I believe these are) I don't know if switching would do anything, but if you feel that you should it doesn't hurt to try.

I am sorry. I would get DR.T's opinion. It will only help.

Thanks for your support. My EFT came back with normal results so hopefully it is just the luck of the draw. Babydreams- Congrats. Thanks for sharing your story. It gives me some hope.

Re: Devastated...Need advice...
Dr. T and Dr. W both work under SIRM but have differing opinions on treatment sometimes. I know when I saw Dr. W bc Dr. T was out sick, he made it a point to tell me what he thinks is going on with my tx which turned out to be correct weeks later. Both are fantastic, Dr. W is younger and has a more aggressive take on tx while Dr. T is more slow and steady. You can't go wrong with either. Many people consult with both of them so they are used to that. I'm so sorry you are going through this and i'm hoping it will work out next cycle.
Edited to say that many FETs have a higher success rate than fresh transfers due to less meds in the system. I think you should consult with Dr. W to see what he can change to make this more successful for you. He's fantastic and I know he will have a protocol waiting for you. That's what I love about SIRM. The night my embryo didn't make it, Dr. T was emailing me articles and protocol that he was looking into to give us a better shot next time. These Drs take you seriously and personally and are very good at what they do. You are in good hands!

Re: Devastated...Need advice...
I had a failed fresh and a successful frozen the following month. Started talking to friends and it turns out almost all my friends who did IVF got pregnant from their freeze cycle. I know at least 15 people, personally, I'm not even talking about all the girls who said that on this site. Apparently it has a better success rate. I personally think its because they don't load your body with all the meds.
We only get 2 covered IVF cycles, so we paid for an FET out of pocket and saved our second covered IVF cycle for in case we needed it. It was expensive, but a lot cheaper then letting insurance cover the freeze and then having to cover another IVF cycle if necessary.

Thanks for your support. I spoke with DH and he feels we should stick with Dr. Wang for the FET and then switch if I need another fresh cycle. My EFT came back with normal results so hopefully it is just the luck of the draw. Babydreams- Congrats. Thanks for sharing your story. It gives me some hope.
Thanks. Anytime. If you have any questions please just ask. When I was going through all of this I needed stories like mine to keep me going. If it can happen for us, it can happen for you. All you can do is try and hope something finally works. It was a hard road and I still can't believe I am really pregnant after all that. I'm hoping your FET is the answer you need. GL

Re: Devastated...Need advice...
Thank you so much ladies. I showed DH some of the posts last night and it made him feel better too. We both feel more confident moving forward to an FET. Dr. Wang did suspect endometriosis so maybe giving my body a break from the meds and then moving to an FET is really what my body needs.

Yup I have confirmed stage 4 endo and Dr. T wouldn't dare do a fresh transfer. The key to endo is suppressing you over a few months so implantation can be successful. With my last (failed) IVF, Dr. T over suppressed me accidentally so my egg quality stunk and I didn't produce as much as I wanted but the next cycle trying on our own naturally, we had a successful implantation. So sometimes having your body free of excess hormones does better for the baby and your body's receptiveness.

I didn't have endometriosis, but I had scar tissue from my surgery, we think.
I did an unmedicated FET cycle. It was so nice. I felt like a normal human again being for the first time in a while, until my transfer.
Hope FET works for you. GOOD LUCK!

I had to do 5 Yes, 5 FRESH IVF cycles. I NEVER had any frozen embryos. All were covered except my last cycle & I now have twins.
We never, switched Dr's although I went for 2nd opinons. If they are doing same protocol, why switch? Trust in your Dr!!!!!!
