DH and Cleaning
So tomorrow is my bday and DH promised he would clean the entire apartment for me...so I go out and get my nails done and come home...aparently his version of cleaning is picking things up from the floor (his briefcase, my sneakers) and putting them in the corner lol...no dusting, he didnt wipe down the counters, basically did nothing...he kills me because I know when he comes home he is going to be so proud of himself lol...anyone else's DH do this?

Re: DH and Cleaning
yep my bday is tomorrow and he said "don't worry I will clean" and i stay home instead of going to the city which i should of done and his cleaning was putting his clothing in the second bedroom on the bed (not in his closet) and doing dishes. 3 1/2 hours later I am done cleaning our two bedroom apartment and he got to go out shopping. Sigh.

Re: DH and Cleaning
I say this all the time...DH's idea of clean is picking up. Occassionally he goes crazy and really scrubs something up, but I have just come to the realization in life, that men and women clean differently.
I know how it feels when he says he will do something, does a lil bit, and is all proud of it!!!! So all I can do is sympathize and give you

Re: DH and Cleaning
It's actually the opposite around here!
DH likes to keep things organized but I can be a real slob! I have gotten much better about it though!

Re: DH and Cleaning
oh boy. My dh isn't like that at all. He's kind of a neat freak (I think it's due to his time in the Navy and he just kept the habit. lol). When we were dating and I'd come over to his apartment, he was always obsessed with keeping everything tidy. Sunday was always his 'spring cleaning day'
Now that we're married and living together, however, I've kind of taken over. I hate clutter - makes me feel claustrophobic. So I clean it a lot, and I guess that's caused him to get lazy with it. lol.
but if I ask him to clean up, he'll do a good job - like this morning I asked him to make the bed before leaving for church. After a 5 minute conversation on why a bed must be made, blah, blah, blah, he finally did it and it looks great! I told him that HE can start making the bed from now on

Re: DH and Cleaning
DH loves things in order and clean. He loves to wash the floors which I am very happy with. He isn't OCD about it but cleaning helps him when he is in a bad mood. I guess the scrubbing and everything gets his frustrations out. I usually do most of the cleaning but when I have work and he is home he will clean. There are def. times where I can let things go and then he will clean.

Re: DH and Cleaning
My DH is a serious cleaner. Not as fanatical about it as I am but pretty close.
He does do floors like he is Cinderella though so I can't complain!

Re: DH and Cleaning
LOL, my DH used to be similar. But now (after living together for four years and a few arguments) he washes dishes/loads the dishwasher, vacuums, and he'll even do some laundry.
