DH and I are in BIG trouble...

Yesterday was my IL's anniversary, and we forgot....

Im sure shes prob more mad at me.... for she feels its a womans responsibility to do these sorts of things, but to be honest.... I really didnt know when their anniversary was... I mean I knew it was sometime in June... but was never really told the date...

Its the 1st year we are married, and we lived at home until we got married....So every year DH got them a card, and I would just sign it the day off.....

Dh just ran to get a card, and bring it to them....

She'd been giving me an attitude the past 2 days... and I couldnt figure why..... Now I know....Chat Icon

She may THINK it is a womans job but it is more her son's job to remember! Chat Icon That is actually one term that I can't stand.

Do you usually get along with her? When DH comes back maybe he can give you some insight into her response.

Re: DH and I are in BIG trouble...

My DH never remembers when my dad's b'day is or my step mom or step dad. He only remembers my moms because it is the day before our anniversay. But if you look at any of the severatl calendars in my house they are all marked with the important days.

Re: DH and I are in BIG trouble...

Some people really get bent out of shape about special noteworthy days.

I am not a birthday or anniversary person. I always forget. However, I never get upset when people forget mine. The way I see it is that the only people who need to remember when I was born are 1) the woman who gave birth to me and 2) the man I share my bed with. As for anniversaries? Well, we havent had one yet, but I only expect DH to remember. Anyone else would be nice but not necessary.

Re: DH and I are in BIG trouble...

Dh is responsible for his family events and I for mine.

Personally, an anniversary in both of our families is celebrate by the two who are...well...celebrating it. That is, the husband and wife.

Re: DH and I are in BIG trouble...

Last year DH forgot his goddaughter's birthday & blamed me saying it was my responsibility. I told him uteruses don't come with calendar attachments. Maybe you could explain your anatomy to your MIL?

I signed DH up for all of the birthdayalarm.com & entered his info so he gets everyone's birthday & anniversaries emailed to him.

I always thought it was sweet, but strange to get cards from other people on my anniversary. I feel that's only DH's responsiblity.
