DH and I need to get another camera...recommedation please
We were at a wedding yesterday and I realized this camera is old got it 4 years ago its a Canon Elph Power Shot....and the pics are not that great. We decided that we are going to purchase a new one...Any recommedations????

get a Canon Powershot A620. just got the new consumer resports and they rate it the highest in the compact category. the Canon Powershot A520 got rated #5 on the list - that one is a little cheaper.

The trick with rechargables (for anything - laptop, cellphone, iPod, etc) is to only charge it when it's almost dead.
Every time you charge a battery, it degrades it. So the less you recharge, the better you are. We have two battery packs for our camera so we don't recharge all that much.
My sister asked us to find a good Canon for our godson for Christmas and we found the best price (and from a reputable vendor) here:
B&H Canon A530
It has a nice zoom, good features, you can change the settings to manual if you want, and a nice range of f-stops for different light situations.

 that is an awesome price!!!!!!! I am seriously thinking of getting DH a better camera for his b-day. I'll have to keep this site in mind

I've ordered expensive stuff from them before too, and haven't had a problem. I only really trust them and Cameta Camera.
Since my godson doesn't have all the accessories, I'm recommending she get this package:
Canon Powershot A530 package
Funny, there was a rebate on it last night which brought it down to $225.00. I guess it expired. 
Anyway, it comes with a fairly large memory card, case, 4 rechargable batteries and charger, 5 year warranty, USB cable.
Cameta has an ebay auction for the Canon A630 package that has a tabletop tripod, memory card reader, batteries, charger, carry case, mag subscription, cleaning cloth, shutterfly credit, and some software. It's $60.00 more than the B&H package so I didn't think my sis would go for it. My nephew's only 13. But here's the link:

I love it and think it takes fantastic shots. (I can post some if you wanna see).

My only complaint is the short battery life... therefore I have 3 batteries - 1 in the camera, 1 charged as a back-up, and 1 in the charger.

I have a digita SLR, the Nikon D50. Love it. We also have a Canon Powershot SD400 and a Canon Powershot G3. I think they are all great cameras.

We have a Canon EOS 350D, the rebel. Its an amazing camera and every shot is a great shot! They are expensive, but taking pics with it is so satisfying!

if you're looking for a really good one... my DH just got the canon rebel XT. its a little on the expensive side ( its more a professional camera almost) its a bigger camera, and isn't like a pocket camera, but it takes AWESOME pics... i posted a link earlier to pics that he took of my sister and i yesterday... the colors are amazing!!
