DH may be allergic to my dog

Dh gets recurrent sinus infections and was told he may be allergic to our dog. He is threatening if he is allergic..we will have to get rid of him. I am such a mess over this.. Anyone allergic to their pets, or have tips..thanks

Tell him to try Zirtec...My DH had problems with my 1st dog Schatze (RIPChat Icon ) & Zirtec was the only allergy pill that made it better.

I am allergic to my husband's cat. After 10 years I have built up a tolerance to her. I would never let him get rid of her. She was a stray that he found eating out of a dumpster as a little kitten and I would never get rid of her because of my allergies. I start with allergy meds and slowly weaned myself off and now I am fine as long as I don't rub my eyes after playing with her. She doesn't even effect my asthma anymore.

Please tell him to try some allergy meds.

This can work both ways. Some people build up a tolerance with repeated exposure, some get worse. I would have been heartbroken if my DH had a beloved cat when we met because it would not be safe for my health if I lived with one but I would not have wanted him to part with his pet.

DH's ex had 2 cats. He lived on Benadryl for the 6 years they were together.

Fortunately he isn't allergic to my dogs. Chat Icon

Have you thought about a HEPA air purifier? Do you have carpeting in your home? If so, are you able to put flooring instead. Carpeting is soo bad for those suffering from allergies. If you do get an Air Purifier, do your homework first to see which ones are best for dander.

Good Luck!
