DH received email from VP that he is ill and will be out for awhile. How would you respond?

DH received email from VP that he is ill and will be out for awhile. How would you respond?
DH is on of the asst. mgrs at a golf store. They have locations all over the U.S. He received an e-mail yesterday from the V.P. of the company advising all that he has cancer and will be out for several months undergoing treatment. DH has only seen the man about 4 times in the 2 yrs that he has been there and he does not have any phone or e-mail contact with him. I told DH that he definitely has to respond to him and say that he is sorry to hear this, etc. DH said that he does not want to say anything in the e-mail such as I'll pray for you. How would you word this?

I think he should say something.
Maybe "Best wishes and good luck with the treatments. We will be thinking of you."
then sign it:
The team at store # whatever
