DH wants to vacation in Montauk this summer ?
Has anyone taken the kids there, where did you stay ? Did you love you or could you have gone to a better place ?

We love it & go all of the time. My friend has a house out there.
We stayed once at the little hotel, I want to say Ocean Spray??? It was just a hotel, nothing very special. Most of the time was spent at the beach so it didn't matter.

Re: DH wants to vacation in Montauk this summer ?
We went last year in September and stayed at the Beachcomber - we LOVED the place. They are across the street from the beach, but all rooms have ocean view and a kitchen.
It was our first time to Montauk and I got a bad impression from the restaurants and shops in the actual "town" - NOT kid friendly at all! But that won't keep us from going again, I just probably won't eat in the main town...
I just edited because I don't want to insult anyone by what I said about it not being kid friendly. We went "off" season - kids were in school already. So we were vacationing with some old timers! Still we did love it there, I just will not eat at the pancake houses there! LOL!
Enjoy! You will have a nice time!

Re: DH wants to vacation in Montauk this summer ?
we go EVERY summer for 7-10 days, we have gone for the past 7 years, we go with family who also have 3 kids and WE LOVE IT!! We either stay at the Surf Club or Beach Plum. We have never had a problem with the town not being kid friendly, it is alwasy packed with families so I don't think the town has any other choice but be accomodating, 2 upscale restaurants in the town may be less accomodating for kids, but overall, it is our most favorite place, we spend a lot of time at the beach, int he pool walking around town, at Gosman's. We are already booking our Summer trip, my kids love Montauk better than DISNEY We just sit on the beach, pack a cooler for the day and we are done! Enjoy, FM me if you need more input.

We try to go every year. We stay at Briney Breezes. They have the efficiency rooms with BBQ grills all around. They have a pool and they are right across from the beach. We love it!!!
ETA: They are ALWAYS cleaning everything. It was super clean (which means a lot to me with a toddler!)

Also wanted to add that Ditch Plains Beach is the best. You can hang out all day, watch the surfers, kites, etc. Kids run around everywhere - and it seems that all of the parents watch each other's kids.
We go to St. Peter's Catch for some fish fry, smoked marlin dip, some crackers, some wine or beer ...eat on the roof deck & watch the sun go down.
Can't beat it!
