DHEA and IVF

Have any of you ladies been taking this? I'll be starting with my first IVF cycle in a couple of weeks from now and was doing some reasearch online on how to improve my chances with IVF and bumped into DHEA. I asked Dr B about it and he said that I could take 25 mg per day. But then I read a little more into it and one of the side effects in there is possibly different types of cancer??? That was reason enough to freak me out.... Now I don't know what I should do and how true that is... what do you ladies think? So far I'm taking Maxi Greens, prenantal vitamins, DHA, coenzyme Q10 100 mg per day, wheatgrass pills, melatonin, Royal Jelly with Bee Pollen....

I asked my RE about it too and he said he really doesn't think I need it but if I wanted to I could. He said its usually given if you are over 40 and poor responders. I read the side effects and decided against it! I am taking the same vitamins as you except for the melatonin.

Well, you wont really be on it for any length of time to worry about severe side effects. But, you really haven't done an IVF cycle yet, so I would only take it as a last and final resort. It helped my cycle (though unsuccessful) but it was my 4th IVF cycle and I had tried everything else. It helped get me much more follicles and eggs than in my past cycle. I'm talking from 6 follicles to lots and from 3 eggs to 15. I was just under 41 when I took it. But, I also took 75mg because I had read about a study that showed that was the dose. But, I would hold off unless you really need it.

No it's not a prescription. I actually asked him if I should take it to prep for my first IVF cycle and he recommended to get the one sold on Dr Myatt's website and take 25 mg/day, he said he likes this one because it gets absorbed better.

I took it on my last IVF cycle and Dr. B never mentioned getting it from Dr. Myatt's site. . .I just bought it at CVS (probably cheaper too).

Good luck.
