DH's Career Change
Ok, so some of you may know that my DH is a union carpenter. Well after much back and fourth, he has decided to venture into another career (because this is not stable money).
He wants to do security and has applied for TSA and Homeland (which I think are going to take a while because they are gov. jobs, and lets be honest, gov. never goes fast). Should he still take the NYS Security Guard License course? Its 8 hours, but it seems most other security jobs require it. Does anybody elses DH do something similar? He would love to do security overnights possibly (my DH has always liked working overnight). Plus, when we do get preggo, him working overnights would actually save us a lot of money because 1. he wouldn't be commuting to NYC. 2. no childcare (if anything, maybe a couple of hours a day.
What are your thoughts?

Re: DH's Career Change
Many of my friends are certified NYS security and took the course. Many times it is a requirement, but it also gives him an edge for positions that do not require it. In addition I think there is a 40 hour course as well.
A few of my friends ended up doing private security for businesspeople and loved it.
