DH's Christmas present to his nieces

they will each get one of these recycled tire swings. Should I intervene? They are not my SIL's taste at all for what her yard is. They are his nieces, and he really loves these things. He also does not know if they have the right tree, never been to their Michigan home, but he says his brother can just build something with 2x4's. Chat Icon He is not the best gift giver, but he really thinks these 2 little girls will love this. TIA!!

Re: DH's Christmas present to his nieces

How old are the girls?
I'mnot sure about this gift idea....I think when I was little I would have rather had Barbies or something like that...

I have to agree...those ARE cool!!

But from what you said...not a good idea if it'll be work for his bro.

Also the kids will then have to wait a LONG time to use them.

Re: DH's Christmas present to his nieces

girls are young, one is 3.5, the other is 1.5. He really doesn't want to get the little one her own, but doesn't want them to fight over it. They hold 200 lbs so he thinks his brother will love them and take the baby on with him.

DH said my savings bonds are boring and he loves these, and he hopes one day someone sends his kids something cool like this. Chat Icon Chat Icon

totally not age appropriate, or do I dare say the words, gender appropriate at all. But do I tell him get something else, or just let him roll with it.

Re: DH's Christmas present to his nieces

They are pretty cool.

But I think you need to veto this one. That is not something that should be picked out for someone else. And he does not need to buy two.

I am sure your sil would love to have this in her yard, rigged up with 2x4's!Chat Icon Chat Icon

This is something my dh would do!

Re: DH's Christmas present to his nieces

Based on their ages...I'd have to agree and say no, better intervene!

I think the kids are too young for them.

Could you ask the wife for ideas?

Instead of bonds, maybe get them an age appropriate toy? I know my friend's 2 yr old LOVES Elmo and loves books...so Im getting her the touch-and-feel books and hokey pokey Elmo.

My other friend's son is 4.5 yrs old and a Star Wars fanatic...so I'm getting him something related to that.

Re: DH's Christmas present to his nieces

yeah, the reason I normally do bonds is because they are the type parents that buy presents all year long. It is toys r us in their house. They have everything. Last year we bought them a really nice toboggan, I think they liked it very much.

Asking my SIL is definitely a thought, but I think she loves the bond idea.

It is really going to break DH's heart, Chat Icon

it looks spooky right? to have swinging in your backyard...I could see for maybe a 7 yr old boy, but a one year old girl? And these girls are frilly. They make DH pray for boys.
