DH's friends went through a terrible loss and I want to send something to the house...
What do you recommend?
I don't want to send a whole dinner, but some kind of food...
It is terrible, they lost their baby during delivery.

How awful
Ben's Deli does deli meat platters w/ bread and salads. They have different levels - some more elaborate, some simple. It's always a hit.

How awful!
What about a plant, maybe something they can plant in their yard as a memory?

OMG...how absolutely horrible.
I was thinking the same thing. They probably don't have much of an appetite. How about a small tree that they can plant in honor of their child?

I would send a gift cert to a restaurant so when they don't feel like cooking - they can bring something in. Maybe make a donation in the baby's honor or memory. I always plant a tree in Israel in honor or in memory of people, even non-Jewish friends - the family receives a nice certificate.

I don't know if I would send food, esp not something cheery looking like an edible arrangement. JMO, if my child died during delivery, I think I would find a fruit arrangement too cheery seeming.
I would send a sympathy card and maybe something based on their religion if they are religious (such as a mass requested, etc).

I think a GC to a place that has take out would be nice. I am not sure they would want to go out so soon.
So sad. I just heard of someone else who went through a stillborn situation just recently. My friend said that this baby was very active and kicky and then the cord got wrapped around his neck and he died 2 weeks before the due date.

What about a donation in memory of them to a child-related organization?

That is so so so sad!!! I'm so sorry for their loss!
Planting a tree in Israel (regardless of religious belief) is such a nice gesture.
Sending some kind of deli platter is also great idea. I think even sending over a tray of homemade ziti or lasagna with a salad. Something they could reheat and eat a few times would be helpful.

Maybe make a lasagna or something - they can freeze it if they are not up to eating...
