Diagnose me! - Update in first post
Ok - doesn't look like there are any nurses on...
Can you guys help me figure out what mightbe going on? I have a doctor's appointment schedules for tomorrow (it's the earliest I can make it in to see them)
- For the past week, I have had a constant dull ache in my lower back on ly left side - like right above my tailbone, but on the left.
-Since Friday, my left foot has been swollen - not all that bad except for today - I couldn't even get a show on this morning! It's also fairly numb - like if I run my fingernail over the top of my foot, I can barely feel it.
- I have also been peeing a ton at night - I never used to wake up in the middle of the night, but now I'm up 2 or 3 times!
Any ideas as to what might be up?
UPDATE:
So I went to the doctor and apparently we were all wrong!
He thinks I have a musculo-skeletal thing going on - like tendonitis or something from wearing heels, which could possibly explain the back pain as well as the swelling. He did a urine test - no presence of white blood cells, no fever or any other signs of an infection.
I have to keep it elevated and wrapped in an ace bandage.
As for the peeing I have no clue and neither did he.
For those of you that think I might be preggo - have to get through some things before that can happen
Thanks again everyone!

Re: Diagnose me!
so many things come to mind.
One is sciatica which I would go to the chiropractor for.
The other is a kidney infection which can be treated with antibiotics.
You may have both.
The other may be a circulatory problem.
don't panic and stay off the internet. You will find out tomorrow. if you don't want to wait, go to the ER.

Re: Diagnose me!
I vote UTI turned Kidney infection. That would definitely cause the pain, the swelling/water retention, and the peeing.
Feel better!

Re: Diagnose me!
The back/side pain and frequent urinating sounds like a kidney/bladder infection or UTI. But I never heard of it leading to numbness. Feel better. Hope the dr has an answer for you tomorrow.

Re: Diagnose me!
UTI comes to mind lower back pain is usually a symptom. The swollen foot could be bc of the water intake. Which a UTI can be caused bc of a lack of water intake. I also thought of sciatica like Susan suggested.

Wishful thinking! Hey, you never know, though - miracles do happen!
I don't thnink it's a UTI - I've had them before and don't have the pain when I go to the bathroom
If it's a kidney infection - would they be able to tell right then and there? They'd probably put me on antibiotics, right?
I'm freaking out about ths a bit!
Thanks for all your responses!

Re: Diagnose me!
I had a kidney infection and I had pain on one side. I peed all the time and I ran a slight fever of around 99-100.
I had to have a cat scan to diagnose it, but my doc thought it was a kidney infection before he even sent me.
If you are freaking out just go to the ER.
Are you running a temp?

No temp - just had the school nurse check. I think I am going to cancel what I had to so after school today and just go to the doc.
Thanks again everyone - I'll update later!

Re: Diagnose me!
I don't know what the pain in the left foot is but...
"Pain in the lower abdomen, often combined with burning or stinging when urinating; yellow discharge; difficulty urinating; strong-smelling, murky, or bloody urine; and in women, pain during intercourse" = UTI
"Pain or tenderness in the lower left side of the abdomen, along with fever. You may also have nausea, vomiting, chills, stomach cramps, and either diarrhea or constipation." = diverticulitus
Did you eat any spicy foods before the pain started? If so, it's diverticulitus. For that you have to go to the gastroentronolgist.
oh sweet lord, don't go tmi on us...I am just copying from a medical site.

Re: Diagnose me!
sounds like it could be sciatica. That's the only thing I personally have experience with that would cause that.
Don't get worried until you see the doc!

A urine test would show an infection. Please let us know later.

I vote UTI turned Kidney infection. That would definitely cause the pain, the swelling/water retention, and the peeing.
Feel better!
I'm going with Dr. McShorty on this one.
Feel better soon!

Re: Diagnose me!
Strange symptoms...
I had a kidney infection years ago. The pain was INTENSE but I didn't have any swelling or numbness.
Good Luck!!

I agree. And it's possible to have a UTI without the typical pain upon peeing symptoms, so I wouldn't rule it out based just on that.

Re: Diagnose me!
You say you're peeing a lot. Are you just feeling the urge to go and then just a little bit trickles out or are you going a normal amount?

Re: Diagnose me!
i say you have a kdney infection. Did you eat something with alot of sodium in it in the last couple of days? that could've caused the swelling if you aren't excreting enough when you pee!
