Diaper Bag Drama
I have been relatively thrifty during the planning & purchasing for the baby. The only thing we really splurged on was the crib, and that was at the insistence of my ILs & DH. I really want a Juicy or D & B diaper bag. My thinking is this: It will be used for at least 2 years, and if the quality & style are there, then it can be used as a tote.
Am I being unreasonable?

Not at all...when I was younger I used to be a "designer girl" with all these kids Ive had to learn to cut corners...Im still a "bag snob" though.

No. I think a lot of us have been trying to be frugal during this pregnancy and honestly, whether it's a diaper bag, hospital bag, etc..., I think we deserve it.
A lot of us have done nothing for ourselves for several months.
Go for it!!!!

I think it's a better use of your money than getting one with bunny & ducks that you're not going to use afterwards and that your DH will refuse to carry.
I say get it.

Whatever you do decide, make sure it's also practical... I've got a collection of 4, yes, 4 diaperbags b/c I couldn't find the "perfect" one! As cute as some are, they just don't work sometimes

Re: Diaper Bag Drama
I'm a Dooney girl..I love their bags, but I wouldn't spend that much on a diaper bag. I probably wouldn't use it as a regular tote after the baby grew out of it, because it's so big, but that's just me.
I ordered a ju ju be and got it yesterday and I love it!

Re: Diaper Bag Drama
Whether or not its unreasonable is a matter of what the tradeoff is. If its something you'd have to charge and then pay interest on then it wouldn't make sense. If the tradeoff is a bit less in savings for a what if scenario, then it seems fine. Of course what I thought I wanted in a diaper bag changed once I had a baby, and then changed again as she got older and I started carrying sippy cups and snacks... so what might not make sense is thinking that you can purchase just one perfect bag now that will work for two years.

Re: Diaper Bag Drama
I have a "ME" diaper bag, and then a practical bag that can take abuse (aka. cheap). Land's End makes great cheap bags that aren't ugly, come in a bunch of colors, and can take alot of baby "troubles"!

NO WAY, you will get so much use out of it, just make sure you test it out and that it is not to heavy and it comfortably sits on your shoulder. I want this coach one for $350!!:

IMAGE I LOVED the Coach one until I picked it up...I found it a little heavy & the straps were not long enough to hang off my stroller (This is the one I wanted Click )
I would not charge it...I don't really charge anything, so that is not an issue. I don't buy if I do not have the cash.
I honestly do not find any of the traditional diaper bags attractive, and I also find them to be cumbersome.
The D & B and the Juicy ones do not look like diaper bags, and are not "overly trendy." The only thing I am really concerned about is that since I never had to carry a diaper bag before I will not know exactly what to look for

On this new one I think the straps are longer ... I know, my sister has that blue one and it is so uncomfortable to me!! Although, they are probably the same weight.
