Re: Diaper Cakes
Its not hard. It just takes a little time. I usually make huge diaper cakes because it is usually for a family member. They are three or four tiers and use over 150 diapers (size 3). I use a huge plastic round tray on the bottom to give some support.
I pretty much follow the instructions that were posted above. But I don't put anything in the center of the first three tiers (if making four tier). I make sure that each tier is really tight. I also put dowels between the tiers to keep them all together. For the top tier I put a bottle in the center. That way the bottle sticks up and I usually attached a stuffed animal. (See the purple hippo below).
Each tier then gets wrapped. The bottom two are wrapped with crib sheets. The third with a bath towel (those hoodie ones work well). The top one is wrapped with two onesies or burp cloths. They are held together with safety pins. I hide the closures (the back) with bibs (see below.)
Then I just add everything under the sun. Let me know if you have any questions. It is a bunch of work but it looks gorgeous and everyone is wowed by it.
I'll post pictures of ones that I have done recently.
This one was for when my niece was bornl:
