Diaper Pails

I had registered for the Safety 1st diaper pail because it said that it didn't need seperate bags or anything like a lot of them need, you can just use kitchen bags. Now it's saying it's currently unavailable and I checked in the store on my last visit to baby's r us and they didn't have any more instock there. So I don't know if I should just take the diaper pail off and not register for one, or if you guys could recommend a really good one.

I'd prefer one that didn't need special bags/cartridges because I feel like that would be a hassle or expensive, but really, any recommendations you have would be great.

My sister-in-law doesn't use a diaper pail at all, so is it really necessary? We are a bit crammed for space.

I have the Diaper Champ and it uses regular garbage bags. It was great esp when he was small. As he is eating more things (solids) it is becoming less effective. I still prefer to change this once a day (less when he was younger) then to run out everytime I have a poopie diaper.

No diaper pail for us, out to the trash with stinky diapers! I can't grasp the idea of saving them in a sausage link! Chat Icon

We do use supermarket produce bags, or Sassy Diaper Sacks if they are not going right outside. Never had a problem... External Image

I had a Diaper Dekor and I love it but alas it's broken and he is 11 weeks. The one hinge doesn't swing close so it somewhat defeats the purpose. I empty it every day after we get the big poop diaper so probably in the long run I could have just used scented bags and a regular trash can. But I'm the only one here so its nice not to have to run out to the garbage every time and the stink is very little even with it being somewhat broken.

Re: Diaper Pails

So is it safe to say that it might just be better if I took the diaper pail off of my registry completely? I'd really rather people get me things that I need, instead of things that really aren't a necessity.

We have Diaper Dekor Plus and love it. We didn't need a refill of the bags until three months. We like it because you can use it for a regular trash pail when you don't need it for diapers anymore, there is no smell and it operate with a foot pedal. I'm glad we got it.

I was the same way with my wipe warmer.. I was like hmm.. do I really need this... and I was happy I took it off because there were plenty of other things in that price range I wanted alot more!

We have the same as MommaG. Jack is 11 weeks and we are on now on our first refill.

I took the wipe warmer off of my registry too because a friend said that if the baby gets used to warm wipes at home, that when you try to change it away from home with regular cold wipes it cries. I figured wipe warmers were a new thing, not really necessary though.

Man, I almost want someone who'se done this mommy thing before to look over my registry and tell me if it's ridiculous. I feel like I have SO MUCH on it, and I hope I have the best on there.

Re: Diaper Pails

I loved my Diaper Dekor. I changed it often and honestly really loved it. Once Molly turned 15 months I had to throw her diapers out though...toodler stinks are WAY tooo stinky for anything other than the garbage. I use the blue bags now too.

I use the blue bags too and we take the garbage out each night. Nothing can contain the smell and honestly, who wants it sitting around in a pail fermenting? I tried the Diaper Champ and while it was ok, the older he got, the worse it smelled.

I have the diaper genie - I use it every day, but I hate it. I heard good things about the Dekor...
