DIAPERS.....Yet another thing to confuse me

What are you buying to be ready for your baby?

I was going to buy a small box of Swaddlers and large box of Cruisers.

But then I went on Pampers.com and realized there is:
Swaddlers N, 1, 2, 2-3
Cruisers 3, 4, 5, 6, 7

What are you getting and how much?

i wouldn't buy anything now. Use what they give you at the hospital and if you like that, then you can buy more. You may not like what you bought, so why get stuck with it?

I didn't buy any but I have plenty. I have two 96-count boxes of swaddlers in Newborn size and one size 1 - less than 96 count but still a lot. I don't know anything about cruisers. I'll figure that out which brand I like after she's born.

I'd only buy one box of newborn size and maybe 2 boxes of the size 1, because you don't know how big your baby will be.

I'm a huge Pampers fan. I loved the Swaddlers! My DS was born 9lbs 5oz and he never fit into the newborn size, he went right to size 1. So it would be good to have some size 1 on hand just in case. Don't open the packages either because you can always exchange them. I wouldn't buy too many until you know what you like.

I bought one large bag of pampers newborn and my DD had outgrown them before I even finished the bag!

I think we will get a large package of Pampers Swaddlers Newborn and Huggies Newborn (with the u-shape opening). Maybe a box of size 1 as well...

I didn't buy anything in advance. You don't know what size you need until the baby gets here. I took a bunch home from the hospital, and then got more after we got home.

I got one package of Newborn and then a coworker of mine made me a diaper cake with 200 Size 1. They go up to 15 lbs so I figure the baby will be in them for a while. My sister said not to get too many of the newborn because they grow out of them quickly (Newborn goes up to 10 lbs, but Size 1 is for 8-15 lbs)

I have one box of diapers in N, and one package of them in size 1. The one thing that I seriously stocked on was wipes.....

I'm getting a bag of newborns and a box of 1-2. If the baby is smaller than 8 lbs then I will get a box of newborms after the baby is born.

I too am a swaddlers fan not a huggies fan. Depends on the kid and their body maybe. DS wet through the huggies all of the time.

i definitely would not buy more than one box of newborn sized diapers. you could end up hating that brand and wishing you never spent the money! happened to me, we had a box of huggies and 1. they were too big, and 2. DS wet through them all the time! we ended up loving pampers. so it was a good thing that we hadn't bought too many of one brand.

I bought a ton of newborn and size 1's and didn't any of them. I ended up having to get preemie because he was so little.

In the beginning, I needed Newborn size. The hospital sent us home with a TON of diapers.

What we did was for the weeks prior to baby, we would buy a $10 GC to the supermarket everytime we went. $10 each time didn't make a huge difference up front, but after say 10 weeks, I had $100 to buy diapers with

I never used the newborn size. I would buy size 1 and up when they are on sale. If you need the newborn you can send someone to get them while you are in the hospital.

We have a ton of Swaddlers size newborn. In the hospital, we used preemie size bc she was so small.

BJ's jsut sent me a ton of baby coupons ($5 off). I am buying only 1 box of Pamper's Newborns and then 1 of the size 1 and 1 of the size 2. I figured that the baby would eventually grow into sizes 1 & 2. I also purchased some Huggies when they were on sale and I had coupons that would have expired.

My feeling is I have 12 friends that are pregnant and due anytime from now until July. If our baby doesn't like a brand, we will have friends who will use one of the other brands.

I use pampers swaddlers.

DS was 9lbs 14 oz 22.5 inches when born. He is now 2 weeks old and still in the newborn size.

We had about 20 before he came home and then probably brought 50+ home from the hospital (clean out the cart and dont be shy about asking them for more before you leave). Since being home I have bought another 60 pack and I think I may need more.

I bought size 1 (the big pack) and they are still way too big on him.

I would suggest buying a jumbo of the newborn (I think the have a pack that has 96) and then playing it by ear from there. With that and what you get from the hospital you should be good for a few weeks and you can see what you need. DS is rather large but it not "chubby" so we still have some time in the N size. if you have a smaller baby I would think the N size would last some time....

ETA though I agree with PP I wouldnt go crazy, just get the one package and see what happens from there. You never know, I had some of hte huggies N and didnt really like them so I am glad that I didnt buy too many.

From my experience, I would advise to use the pampers swaddlers for the first month or so depending on how big the baby is. At that point I would switch to pampers baby dry. No need to do cruisers until the baby is actually moving. They cost more money.

Also, I have noticed that with girls pampers works better and with boys huggies works better. This is not 100% accurate but it's what I've observed. Each diaper fits differently so you might want to wait a week or 2 before you start buying cases of them.

I bought a bunch of White Cloud diapers, the wal-mart brand. the woman at my Breast Feeding class suggested them. She said they are just as good as the name brands but they are only about 2/3 of the price. i think i got 2 80 count packages.

We stocked up on Pampers brand diapers before DD was born...from size NB to size 2...took them out of the box for storage issues and once we got home found out DD is allergic to Pampers.

I had to go out and buy Huggies. Thank God my BFF is pregnant so I gave all the diapers to her. I think you should buy a small pack to have at home when DC comes home then take it from there or if you do stock up on them or get them for your shower don't open the box and keep the receipts.
