Diary Of a Wimpy Kid

You don't understand how it feels to catch your son, past his bedtime, NOT SLEEPING because he is reading a BOOK.

He reads in the hallway while waiting for the elevator... he reads in the car on the way to the bus stop, instead of playing his PSP during long trips, HE READS THESE BOOKS!

Since Christmas he has read 2 of the books, and is almost done with the third.

Oh please lord, let this last and tell me my son inherited my love for books...

My son likes those also and he is a pretty reluctant reader. Has he read any of the A to Z mysteries books? My son likes those also.

And now the question is, how do we as parents continue to tap into their interests to keep them reading???

I'm a school librarian and absolutely love to hear these stories. If you ever want book/series suggestions, please ask away!!!

NO... I'll have to check them out... Aidan also liked the Spiderwick Chronicles... I just can't believe how he cannot put these books down... Jeff Kinney is a genius.

give it to me!! Anything you know...

hehehe. Whenever Aidan seems interested in something, I always try to find a book for him... He tends to like most DK books. He watched the movie Titanic so I found a DK book about the Titanic and he loved it.. Nothing has grabbed his attention the way these books have though... I mean, we took a 5 hour trip to MD and he didn't pick up his PSP ONCE!!! FOr my kid, who needs video game detox, this is a BIG DEAL

I love the Eyewitness DK books too - so eye catching and chock full of info, but usually not read cover to cover, so we don't always find their noses buried in them for long periods of time.

Just an FYI - statistically it has been shown that boys prefer nonfiction to fiction and when asked why they don't really "like" fiction quite often they respond with "I don't get it", as if they just can't relate. Again, this is just a statistic, but one I find pretty interesting.

I agree with the A to Z Mysteries...a great series that has 26 books in it - one for every letter of the alphabet.

How old is your son? I'll suggest based on age group if you'd like...

He'll be 9 in May and is in 3rd grade... His teacher told me when she tested him at the beginning of the school year, he was reading closer to a 4th grade level.

My son loves these too! And now he and his brother are addicted to the HOW books which makes me so proud. Robbie was reading them to Noah the other day and they were hysterical.
