Did anyone buy regular furniture instead of baby furniture?
For my DS we went the convertible crib and changing table dresser route, but I'm thinking for DD to just buy regular furniture and a separate crib and later get the matching bed. I want to get white furniture so finding a crib to match shouldn't be a problem. I figure I could just attach a changing pad on top of a dresser. What do you think?

I only bought a crib. Personally I don't see the need to buy tons of furniture.

Re: Did anyone buy regular furniture instead of baby furniture?
We bought a dresser and a bookcase from Gothic Furniture. We picked out a nice style that they alwas have available (at least so they say) and we can go back and get a headbd and nightstand when we need. The dresser is a little taller than the average height so we put a change pad on it and use that. We used my sisters crib. I couldnt see buying furniture that looked like baby furniture than buying another set in a few years.

I made sure to choose a set that a teenage boy would feel comfortable using...hoping it will last that long. I actually brought an adult size hanger to the store to see if it fit in the armoire. I heard some armoires can only use baby hangers.

We bought a convertible crib, a regular dresser and an armoire. It's a beautiful classic style and he "should" be using it until he leaves for college for what we paid for it.

SAme here.
We use two old IKEA dressers we had that match the finish to the cribs we purchased.
I'd rather spend the money on quality big girl/big boy bedroom set that will carry them through college.

I have a lifetime set from Munire fro my DD. She has a full size dresser, armoire and her crib goes from daybed to full size bed(many of them only convert into a toddler size). I put her changing pad inside of her armoire. I think it's a great idea to only spend the $ once. This is her quality set that will take her through to college

Re: Did anyone buy regular furniture instead of baby furniture?
We got a white dresser from IKEA and a white bookcase. We painted the back wall of the bookcase a contrasting color. The dresser was $140 (put the changing pad on top) and the bookcase was $50. We got a white crib from BRU.
I wanted to spend the money on banking the cord blood and chose to save money on the furniture.

We did the same thing, I felt like it made the most sense.
