Re: did anyone deliver at 35 weeks?

Are you feeling like you are in labor again? I had a baby at 36 weeks. He had a rough first few days but that was due more to unrelated issues. He is perfectly fine now.

Re: did anyone deliver at 35 weeks?

I also went into preterm labor and had to go on meds (procardia) once I was released home after a week in the hospital, I had also been given the steroid shots in the hospital. I had an emergency c-section a couple days shy of 36 weeks and my son was perfectly healthy, didn't have to go into the nicu or anything. Don't worry you are far along now so don't be nervous plus you were given the steroids so you are fine. Chat Icon

I had my son at about 36 weeks. They suspected that I would not go to term and gave me the steriod shot at 33 weeks. He was born weighing 5lbs 7ozs and healthy. No NICU stay required.

Re: did anyone deliver at 35 weeks?

I had the steroid shot at 28 weeks and had the triplets at 36 weeks. They were all born healthy weighing in at 5 lb 5 oz, 5 lb 4 oz and 4 lb 2 oz. My little one was in NICU only a week because of her weight none of them needed any kind of medical treatments. I wish you all the luck .Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: did anyone deliver at 35 weeks?

35 weeks and 3 days here...he is a happy, healthy boy!
He did spend a week in NICU due to "grunting", which is a very common breathing issue in preemies and then he developed jaundice. He was on CPAP for a day, oxygen for a day and then it was just the jaundice issue after that (and some eating problems. But, he went home exactly one week after he was born and at his first visit to the ped, they told us he was no longer considered a preemie.
I also had the steroid shots somewhere around 32 weeks.....

I could have wrote this EXACT same post except my DS came home 8 days later!!! But he was born the same time, and had the same issues.
He is completely healthy now!!!!

Re: did anyone deliver at 35 weeks?

I did. My twin boys were born at 35 wks 3 days. One of my sons was on cpap for 1 day and then nasal canula for 1 day. After that he was in the NICU for jaundice and weight-came home after 7 days. My other son was on cpap for 4 days and had some more trouble with breathing. he was in NICU for 9 days. They are both happy and healthy and will be 1 tomorrowChat Icon

Re: did anyone deliver at 35 weeks?

I have a friend who delivered before 35 weeks. Her DS was over 5lbs and healthy. He was in NICU for a few days and I think it took about 10 days total until he was released from the hospital but he was in good shape overall. And now at nearly 18 months you would never know he was a preemie.

Re: did anyone deliver at 35 weeks?

I delivered my twins at 35 wks 1 day. I had the steroid shots at I think 28 wks. which made a big difference. My boys were 4lbs13oz and 5lbs12oz. They were in the NICU but did not require any oxygen or anything. My 1 son stayed in the NICU 1week and my other for 2wks. They said they have to stay until they reach 36 weeks. They are perfectly healthy big 9 month old boys both weighing well over 20lbs now Chat Icon

Re: did anyone deliver at 35 weeks?

DD was born at 36 weeks, totally healthy. Only went to NICU b/c she had fluid in her lungs (from the csection, not early delivery). She stayed there one day, took some abs, and was fine, still is. It will be ok, esp if you got the steriod shot (I didn't even get that)>

Re: did anyone deliver at 35 weeks?

I had DS at 36 weeks- he was fine. I thought I was going to have him at 35 weeks, but Doc advised me to stop working and not to walk as much. He held out another week, and he was fine.

Re: did anyone deliver at 35 weeks?

I was 34 weeks 5 days...My twins stayed in the Nicu for 9 days.

one baby was on Cpap for a few hrs, then nasal tube for a few hrs, then they both were breathing room air. I had steroids at 32 weeks.

They had to adjust to room temp, learn to eat, standard stuff.

They are fine now at 7 weeks old.
