Did anyone get braces or their teeth fixed as an adult?

I'm 30 and am still slightly self conscious about the gap and crookedness of my smile. Did anyone fix their teeth in the later years?

I did not, but my DH and SIL did. They are both very happy with the results. My SIL got the old style silver with two of her five children, and DH got the clear braces. She is in her forties.

My Mom did... she got them on in her late 30's or maybe early 40's when I was in h.s. and had them on for a few years. She chose to get the ceramic ones.

I should have had braces as a kid. My teeth are not crooked but I do have a very narrow bite and a cross bite. In order for me to fix my mouth, I would have to have massive work done that is not covered under the combination of our dental plans because it would be considered cosmetic at this point. If I am going to spend thousands of dollars on something cosmetic, it is going to be for the tummy tuck and boob lift after baby #2 since my teeth don't really bother me. Though if we had "extra money" floating around , Id do it though.

I did before my wedding in my mid-20s. I had braces in my pre-teens, but my bottom teeth shifted due to my wisdom teeth. I had braces on only 1/2 of my bottom teeth. I now have a permanent retainer to stop them from shifting again.

I had clear braces (not a candidate for invisalign), they were on for 2 years, and it cost me over $2000 since it was not covered entirely by my insurance. It was more painful as an adult than as a pre-teen. If you're self conscious about it, go for it!

I got braces at 24. I had clear ones on the top and metal on the bottom. I also had a gap that needed to be closed and needed some straightening. I had them on for 14 months. It was so worth it.

I am going to get invisalign for my 30th birthday. I had the metal braces as a kid but still have a bit of an overbite. Lasik is also on my list for a 30th birthday present. So maybe I am just OCD but if you feel self conscious about it like I do, go for it!

One of my friends just turned 40 and she had hers done last year, they actually just came off and she is THRILLED. They really came out awesome. Go for it!!!!

eta: she did the top first, then the bottom i think so it wasn't as noticable

I did, right before my wedding. I had a recessed tooth that probably no one noticed, but it bothered the heck out of me! My dentist put in a piece behind my tooth and no one could really see it. It was kind of like palate expander piece with this other thing that pushed up against my teeth.

It was awesome- and I don't regret it at all!

I did. I was 25 or so. One of the best things I have done for myself.

My sister got them when she was about 25, she just got them off last year and they look great.

She only had them on for a little over a year - it went by pretty fast!

I got braces when I was 40ish!

I also got colored rubberbands to match my DD's softball team colors and switched them up for the various holidays

I didn't but my DH did. He got invisalign and he is SO happy with the results. He's in his 30's and was self conscious his whole life about his smile. His only regret was not doing it earlier. I love it too because he smiles all the time!

I had braces when I was 25 for a year and a half.. I had the clear porceline ones and no one even knew I had them.. You can also do Invisalign which are clear and pop onto your teeth like a retainer.. Good Luck and don't feel self conscious it's SO worth it in the end!!!

FH has had braces for almost 2 years. It's not so bad but it's been more of a process since it is a LOT of maintenance on tkaing care of his teeth, which he's not used to, AND he may need to get jaw surgery, since his alignment is so out of whack. It's becoming a big thing but it doesn't have to be. He's already seen great results and is happy he did it.

I'm 26 and I have braces. I've had them on for a year and will have them on at least until next year.

I had them when I was 13 and then again when I was 23 for one year. I am happy with my decision.


eta: I had the clear on top and bottom. The cost for me was about $2000 since I went back to the same orthodontist and he let me pay it monthly. My dental ins. would not cover the braces for me.
