Did anyone go to the Sayville seafood thing?

I went Sunday. I really thought it was bad. Long lines, FRIED seafood...nothing fresh really. Maybe it's just me and I've been sorta down lately, but I coulda skipped it. I went with DH and my MIL. My FIL was away for the weekend and I thought it would be nice to have MIL join us. I ended up feeling badly that she even drove out to come...Oyster Fest is MUCH better. I didn't even care for the vendors, and I usually go nuts at those things! (buying lotions, jewelry, etc)

I went once, a few years ago and I swore never again. My experience was very similar. All I remember was parking about a mile away, walking with a 18month old in a stroller and six year old who was not all that happy and dying of the heat. We wound up eating at Salsa Salsa as the lines at the festival were just ridiculous.

We were supposed to go yesterday. But DH's softball practice went until 2 out in Hicksville. I read on the website it closed at 7 so there was not way it would be worth it for us.

I went on Sunday with one of my girlfriends. In the morning the line to the food tent was empty but in the afternoon you couldn't get in. However even though it's called Seafood Fest it's not all about the Seafood (to me anyway). My friend and I indulged in large cups of beer, giant pickles, zeppolis (a must) and some hot sauce. The band that was there was AMAZING (I don't know what they are called but one member is an original member of Lynard Skynard) They played amazing southern rock and ended with Free Bird. All in all a GREAT time. It is what you make of it.

P.S. My girlfriend HATES seafood but came for the atmosphere.

yeah, we went yesterday- the food was ok- the line was long but went fast. after we ate, we were like- now what? hehe. there really wasn't much else to do, the booths weren't that good. i got 2 nice paintings by this man, but that was it. i got zeppolies but only had one cause i didn't think they were that good. and it got very hot, so it might have just been the day. def not going back again though.

i'll do the oyster fest though- when is that, october right?

I did have a giant pickle and a glass of wine...but overall, to me it was just OK. I enjoy fairs at Deepwells in St. James much more. Maybe the cloudy day was bringing me down.

We talked about going but went to the movies instead. I didn't think it was that great last year. Plus, I didn't want to run into a million people that I knew.

The music was so loud on Saturday that we could hear it at my in-laws house!
