Did anyone have high ultrascreen results when pregnant?
Sorry to crash the board, but I am so scared. My results are 1 in 160 and normal for my age is 1 in 758. The doctor said they get the number from a combination of the blood work and neck measurement. I was just wondering if anyone had bad results when pregnant? Thanks.

Not me, but I do know someone this happened to. It turned out that her DS was FINE, no problems. The doctors freaked her out for NOTHING. It also happened to someone else I know, same thing with the same result... a health baby. Good Luck and remember these tests are not ALWAYS accurate. HTH

Re: Did anyone have high ultrascreen results when pregnant?
I had the ultrascreen done, normal for my age was 1 in 350. My results came back 1 in 123. I cried for a month, until my amnio. My doctor kept telling me everything would be fine . He even bet me his bank account. My son was born perfectly healthy. What you need to remember and trust I know it's hard is that this test is just a screening. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Yup - that was me - for my age should have been 1 in 400-something, and it came up 1 in 217 - my doctor assured me not to worry too much about it.... Sure enough, my baby was perfect!!!

Re: Did anyone have high ultrascreen results when pregnant?
I am not sure of my numbers but becuase I had two they were skewed. One of my boys had a birderline neck thickness. They sent me to a specialist and he has a minor heart issue. He is fine and has a slight murmor. Have them send you to a specialist to check everything out. I hope everything is fine and it was a false positive which is very common with this test.

Re: Did anyone have high ultrascreen results when pregnant?
I had an issue too - although I didnt think I did. Normal for my age is 1:120 or so and my test came back 1:259. I thought that was good since I am old(!) and had better results than the norm. My doc told me they reccommend an amnio for everyone that gets less than a 1:300 regardless of the age. So I was referred for an amnio but I didnt take it. The last week of my pregnancy I kinda wished I did, just so I didnt have any surprises when he was born but that was just stress making me 2nd guess not having the test. BTW my measurements were normal, but the bloodwork and age factor made the results what they were. If the measurements are ok, I think that is key... Good Luck Fran

Re: Did anyone have high ultrascreen results when pregnant?
I did with my second DD. She ended up being just fine. That is why I will never have another ultrascreen because I was scared to death my whole pregnancy.

Re: Did anyone have high ultrascreen results when pregnant?
My results for my first were 1 in 5. Scheduled an amnio; showed up 5 DAYS later for the amnio to find out the whole thing was a typo--on April Fool's Day, no less...haha.
Anyway, #1: double check your results #2: realize that the odds of your baby having Down's even at 1 in 160 are incredibly slim--less than a 1% chance.
I've been there--try and relax and definitely talk it out with loved ones.
Best of luck!

Re: Did anyone have high ultrascreen results when pregnant?
i think for my age i was supposed to be 1 in 300 or something and i was 1 in 114. my ds was just fine..a bit early but perfect! i refused the amnio and the cvs(?) my dr didnt seem to concerned about it bc he never really pushed for an amnio...
I know it scares the heck out of you but i think they are just preparing us to be parents of teenagers!

Re: Did anyone have high ultrascreen results when pregnant?
One of my friend's had 1 in 7 They pretty much told her that her baby had downs. She refused the amnio since she was carrying to term no matter what the results said.
She has a perfectly healthy baby girl
Hang in there- nothing is completely sure but a CVS or amnio.

Re: Did anyone have high ultrascreen results when pregnant?
Just so you know this was my original post 4 1/2 years ago with my first DC. She was born and is totally healthy. I now have 3 kids and also got high risk results in my third pregnancy of 1 in 66 and that baby is totally healthy too! Good Luck!
