Felice- If you find a flight for less than $500, you did great! Last time I paid $520 (that was in the fall) my sister just went in Feb, she paid $770 on AA (both flights direct from JFK)
Most of the island hotels have deals such as 4th night,5th night, etc free during low season May thru Sept.

Re: Did anyone hear about ARuba?
We also just booked a trip and I think the airfare was around $700
I don't know how much tourism has fallen, since the agent said that all the cheaper flights from JFK were booked (not just the direct ones.)

Re: Did anyone hear about ARuba?
I think because there are so few flights from JFK to Aruba, the airfare is never cheap.

Re: Did anyone hear about ARuba?
I went two years ago and the airfare was ridiculously expensive... something about it being so close to South America moreso than any other islands in the Caribbean.

Re: Did anyone hear about ARuba?
A better option might be to leave from newark on Continental like we did. It is their hub and i think our flight was like 300 bucks.

I live about 10 minutes from there so that is the most ideal ariport. That is where I am finding the $500 flights! DH and I went 2 years ago and flew on miles. I think we might have to do that again It is 75,000 miles each! It is crazy how pricy it is
