Did anyone hear anything about Fluoride being a toxin?
My MIL and my boss both told me not to give Andrew vitamins with Fluoride in them. That they have toxins in them.
Any feedback on this? TIA

Too much flouride can cause flourosis which damages the enamel of the teeth. You should only give flouride if the water in your area is not already flouridated.

i have heard that too. my ped. kind of hinted at it  and told me to research it. i don't know...i am still on the fence. when i googled it i saw a bunch of negative stuff that had nothing to do with the fluorosis. i think it's something that you would not want to give in high doses-just like anything else. maybe the others can shed more light on it.

Well, all I know is Alex decided one day to eat some of our fluoride toothpaste. She walked into the living room with nice smelling bubbles coming out of her mouth.
I called the Ped who told us to call poison control - so, yes, apparently too much fluoride can be toxic to young children. If you look at toothpaste with fluoride it usually has a warning about not allowing children under 6 to ingest it.

To much fluoride can cause fluorosis...
I dont give my kids the vitamins with the fluoride..I never have.

But if there is no fluoride in your water would they need fluoride then? My dd's ped prescribed vitamins with fluoride for DD and she has been taking them

They say fluoride helps prevent decay in baby teeth and builds stonger teeth. There are reports that fluroide is toxic, it never leaves the body and can cause a bunch of issues. My doctor prescribes them, I don't give them. I give DS a vitamin without fluoride now (Flinstones, or the like). DD doesn't get a vitamin at this point.

Thanks everyone. My boss told me that fluoride is banned in the UK. I think I will try the chewables and see how that goes. Andrew will not take the gummy ones so I resorted back to the liquid but there is added fluoride in them. If he drinks enough milk I would think he should be fine.

where can you get vitamins without flouride? I've looked at GNC and Vitamin world so far but they don't have them.
