did anyone hear the news about Alfa Romeo?
they may open a plant here for making cars since the euro is so high against the dollar.
it seems what goes around DOES come around...we are closer to becoming Europe's china.

There are plenty of car plants here owned by foreign companies. I don't see how one more makes us "China."

Hey, at least there'll be more jobs for Americans...no? I always hear people complaining how America exports their businesses and how this shuts down a lot of jobs for people...

True, but those are cars which are built and then mostly sold here.
When was the last time you saw an Alfa Romeo dealer in this country? We're talking about building cars here for export to other countries.
Made in the USA will be the new Made in China..

I hear ya...I think I'm going to have to move back "home" now...
ETA: I think you're going to be better off traveling to a particular country now, and purchasing trips from there on to other countries.

My understanding from what I've read is that this is their attempt to re-enter the US market.
I haven't read a ton on it, so maybe I missed something. I never saw anything about exports back to Europe (though I did see something about potential exports to Canada, though that would make sense).
ETA -- My understanding is that they had planned to reenter the US market, but the value of the dollar against the euro made importation too expensive. I know they considered opening a Mexican plant to import into the US. It looks like a US plant is now planned. I still can't find anything saying these cars are for exports. Am I missing something?

This car makes me drool a little bit...the Alfa Brera. But I probably wouldn't buy a new Italian car, a classic maybe.
