Did anyone NOT put bumpers in their cribs?

Just wondering... I hear there are mixed opinions on having these or not.

Thanks!

I use the breathable bumpers. Instead of the traditional. I am too paranoid to use them.

I haven't ever had bumpers, and personally I don't see why you would need them at all...I feel the same way about bedding!

DS 3.5 years ago, no bumpers at all. DD now, we use the breathable bumpers. The breathable bumpers keep the pacifiers inside the crib, as well as stray arms and legs. It still allows them to breathe, in case they shove their faces into it. We'll take it down when she starts to stand. Don't want her to use it as a step to get out of the crib with....

We didn't use them at all, then at 4 months DD started getting her legs stuck in the side of the crib. We now use breathable bumpers from BRU and they're great. Plus, no more lost pacifiers!

When we were at my FIL's house in FL there were no bumpers on the crib & DD kept getting her arms & legs stuck in the slats.

Ava moves around so much in her crib that if I were to take them out, she'd ram her head on the railings. Not to mention, her little legs would be dangling out even more than they are now!

I used them at first but once Matteo started to move around I took them out. I did hear about the breathable bumpers. He's doing okay without them though....if his legs start to get caught when he's rolling around I may need to get those.

I've never had bumpers or bedding in the crib. I see no reason for the risk.

I have to because my boys move around a lot and I know they would hit their head, but it is annoying when they wet the bed and I have to change the sheets I have to untie the bumper each time.

What we do, is on the mattress, put the waterproof pad, then a sheet, then a second pad, then a second sheet. That way, if they wet the bed at 3am, you just need to yank off the wet sheet and pad. Takes 30 seconds, you could probably do it without taking the mattress out, and you can put everything back again when everyone is awake in the morning.

I am sure you know this already but they do have a sheet that is attached by snaps. This way you don't have to untie the bumpers and you don't have to lift the mattress. It is also waterproof so that one sheet is all you need. So easy when DC wets the bed.Chat Icon
