did anyone see the story about mortgages on news12 today?
Well its about two years too late but I couldn't help but think when they interviewed the woman that can't afford her adjustable mortgage anymore, she said she can't afford her increased payment and food & heat. I noticed though the nail salon acrylic nails with the airbrushing. I maybe alone on this but if I were behind on my mortgage the $$$ manicures would have been the first thing to go. People are out of their minds.

people get used to living a certain way and it's hard to change.
I agree, though, if I couldn't afford my home I would hate it, but I would cut out the luxuries.

Maybe she has a friend who does it for free? I don't know, people's priorities are screwed up.

Re: did anyone see the story about mortgages on news12 today?
I think that people's priorities are really sad and out of whack. I am sure there are many people who really can't afford their new payments, but I bet half of these people could find a way if they just cut out certain things. Like the luxury cars, the nails, take out, dining out, etc. It drives me crazy to watch people rack up thousands in debt but then still get weekly mani/pedi's, get their hair colored at the salon, new outfits for every occassion and keep a luxury car! Use some common sense!!!!

i have friends like this- that are constantly broke, but still continue to shop, get their hair and nails done, etc.. it's the mentality that $20-50 won't "help" their situation so why bother- what they don't get is that the $20-50's add up to a bill!

Re: did anyone see the story about mortgages on news12 today?
my brother in law is a mortgage banker and he took a work call while having some coffee and a muffin at Panera Bread this morning. A women sitting near him overheard and asked him what he did for a living, when he said that he was a mortgage banker she started screaming at him that it's his fault that she is getting kicked out of her house, etc, etc, etc. Mind you, she was drinking coffee by herself at PANERA BREAD. Not that they are super expensive or anything, but one of the easiest ways to save money is to eat cheaply at home. I remember the grad school days. A cup of coffee from the home coffee maker may help keep that house!

I know a couple with one income-the husband is a mortgage broker & really isn't closing any deals. So they are pretty tapped & upside on their equity. They are planning to travel for christmas week "if he closes a deal". Ummm, maybe if he closes a deal you should put the money in the bank instead of traveling in case he doesn't close another for a few months!!! DUH.
I'm stating to have even less sympathy for the people in these situations.

Re: did anyone see the story about mortgages on news12 today?
I agree people have really messed up priorities - it's like some people can't see the differnence between want and need.
I was talking to a guy in my office last week - he was all stressed out because he found out that his portion of his son's braces after insurance was going to be $3,000. He was going on that this couldn't have happened at a worse time with Christmas and everything.
So i said to him - "I guess that means you guys are going to put off the big LCD until next year then, that's a bummer"
He said - "oh no! I've been saving for that and I can put the braces on a payment plan"
If that payment plan is stressing you out so much - SKIP the giant TV!!!
