Did anyone skip or delay cereal/oatmeal?
Yael is almost 5 months so for a couple of weeks now she's been eating oatmeal mixed with some veggies or fruit.
Problem is, she's ALWAYS had digestive issues, and the oatmeal seems to be aggravating it.
I think I'm either going to stop giving her food altogether and wait another month or two, or just skip the oatmeal and give her fruit/veggies straight up.
Any thoughts?

That's fine! My Ped said I can do that as well since Mason was not liking the oatmeal at all. I went right to the fruits and veggies after I took a break from feeding. Now I give him oatmeal at night and not every day since he goes to daycare I find it easier to bring the plastic containers rather than also mixing oatmeal

I didn't give cereal till 6 months.
I tried at 5 but he just wasn't interested.
Have you tried rice cereal or another type of cereal to see if it all hurts her tummy?

Yeah, I think I'm going to do that - we'll take a break from food while we're in Israel and when we come back, straight to veggies and fruit.
Before food, she always had a hard time with pooping - it was never hard or constipated, but she would strain and grunt for hours before pooping, and sometimes it would even cause fissures.
She LOVES food, and now that she's eating more everyday, it's killing her digestive system. She went from pooping 4-5 times a day to pooping MAYBE once a day, and for HOURS leading up to it, she's straining and grunting and in obvious discomfort, and it's seriously interrupting her sleep these days And the consistency is much more mushy, not as wet and seedy, which I'm sure is why it's harder for her to get it out.

I didn't bother because my Ped suggested we try oatmeal because rice cereal and the others tend to bind more than oatmeal, so if she's having THIS much trouble with oatmeal, I'm not even touching cereal!

DS didn't start cereal (oatmeal) until 6 months. That's actually not delaying since technically they're not supposed to start on solids till 6 months anyway. All they need up till then is BM or formula. So def wait another month is she's having issues.

Re: Did anyone skip or delay cereal/oatmeal?
Samantha HATED cereal.
I never forced it on her. Now I do give her the jarred breakfast foods (Earth's Best). It's more like the pureed foods (Oatmeal/Fruits). The consistency is nothing like cereal and she likes it much better.
However, even though she's only 10 months old, I don't think she's going to stay on purees much longer as she much prefers real table food.

Re: Did anyone skip or delay cereal/oatmeal?
With the girls I practiced baby led solids. I never fed them "baby food". The idea of shoveling food into a babies mouth didn't sit right with me. I waited until my girls could pick up soft table foods and put it in their own mouth. Kaitee was 7 months old and Brooke had a strong gag reflux until she turned 8 months old. Solids in the first year are for practice so don't feel rushed into it.

See, the thing is, I suspected she was ready because she's obsessed with watching us eat and grabs at food, and when I do feed her, she ravages it - she LOVES food, but her tummy just isn't ready unfortunately.
I have an appointment with a GI specialist when we get back from Israel (she still has flecks of blood in her diapers). I think I'll just wait until then to try it again.
