Did anyone watch CBS Early show this morn RE: Infertility?
The did a short segment about women who get pregnant after adopting. They said it seems to happen "alot". A dr was on and he corrected them saying that it actually happened less that 10 of the time, etc..
The whole point of this is that they said that the STRESS of TTC for couples with fertiliy problems actually contributes to the problems. The doctor compared the stress of TTC with ferility issues is EQUIVLENT to the stress put on a body from someone with CANCER!
I tried to find the link, but for some reason I didn't see it on the website. I just thought this was interesting enough to share with you wonderful ladies and I also couldn't believe the analogy and exactly how stressful it is. Many and to you all.

I didn't see the segment, however...
While I do believe that stress can affect TTC. There are many fertility issues that even without being stressed won't help you to get pregnant.
I don't ovulate... not stress related. My husbands sperm issues... not stress related, etc....

I saw that segment this morning too. Everything about IF cannot be covered in a 5 minute segment. There are factors in IF that can't be changed by "relaxing". I found that a bit frustrating.

same here...but I get how stress can negatively impact TTC in some way.

ITA! I wish they would have went a bit more in depth with the piece. I would have liked to see some statistics and/or studies. I was just amazed at the actual stress levels that it puts on a body ~ I am not saying that "relaxing" will help (if only it was that simple)

I just checked the morning show's website and the story isn't posted yet. Maybe later today or tomorrow.

Re: Did anyone watch CBS Early show this morn RE: Infertility?
This is something that makes me upset alittle..
So this means if I stop stressing my Dh's sperm count will rise? And if I could only relax the N/K cells and blood clotting issues will go away? if i can only stay calm my fsh levels would have stayed low?? KWIM?

Re: Did anyone watch CBS Early show this morn RE: Infertility?
DH asked our RE in our consultation if stress played a factor. And he said stress does come into the picture but if stress was a factor then none of his patients would ever get pregnant b/c IVF is very stressful.

Re: Did anyone watch CBS Early show this morn RE: Infertility?
I agree that stress is a factor and although it's easy to say that if you relax you will get PG...it's obviously not the case. I think if you have unexplained fertility or PCOS, it's definitely possible to get pregnant naturally. Especially when you aren't under the stress of treatment. But, if you have blocked tubes, egg issues or MF...I don't think it's possible to get PG without assistance.

Re: Did anyone watch CBS Early show this morn RE: Infertility?

I think in some cases stress plays a role.
I know that stress raises cortisol in your body, it's a chemical reaction and it effects all body functions including the endocrine system.
So not all fertility issues are stress related but it doesn't help.
Just relaxing is crap though. You have to take care of yourself through stressful times in order to minimize the effects of stress on the body.
If stress was the determing factor then there would be no pregancies from rape.
My parents adopted my brother and 5 years later I came along. That had nothing to do with stress. I was a surprise. They decided to adopt and didn't pursue fertility treatments.

My former hairdresser got PG a few months after adopting her son. I suppose it can happen but I think it's statistically unlikely.

Also, while I'm certainly stressed now (as we all are) most of us didn't start out stressed. DH and I started TTC like every other couple. The first few months were actually fun. (Gosh! Remember when this was fun???!!!!)

Re: Did anyone watch CBS Early show this morn RE: Infertility?
I am dealing with unexplained IF and while I am not really concerned about the stress of my IF problems or the stress of TTC, I am concerned that having a stressful job where I work a lot of hours is possibly playing a role in my IF. At the very least, it can't be helping!
But I am sure that it's not the exclusive cause and I don't think that if I quit my job, I would magically get PG. I guess it's more than I am worried that with all of the stress, my body is not 100%.

Totally Agree! Plus, I don't think stressing less would of helped my blocked tube or massive fibroids.
Although, I do agree about minimizing the stressers in your life while going through IVF/IUIs etc.
